Avp2

Exactly! I was extremely disappointed with the first one. Absolutely terrible film. Who the hell thought it was good enough to warrant a sequel and the fact that guy said it would be 'kick-ass' is a good reason to avoid like the plague as this could be worse than the first.

What's wrong with AVP? It does what it says on the tin.
I would have liked to have seen more of a battle between the Aliens and Predators, such as that seen in the flash back.

Appartently the script review of AVP2 has been taken down from the site according to Chud.com:

"Ain't it Cool recently ran a script review of AVP2, one that was taken off the web due to legal issues. As a result, we had to remove the thread discussing it because of legal issues as well as the hijacking of some of our message board logins and IP addresses. Last thing I want to do is contribute to any sorts of legal issues at my advanced age. If CHUD.com readers would like to create a new thread and discuss the film and its concepts without any sort of legal issues, please do.

In my experience, something comes out to explain all this. I've been told that not everything was legit in the version of the script they had been given and since I have a relationship with the writer of the script I'll dig deeper. Not a lot to divulge in terms of details but one thing was certain: It's best to wait and let the dust settle.

It's one thing to discuss matters in which there aren't a lot of facts and it's another to mess with business and the law. I'm not brilliant but I know our limitations.

I apologize to the readers who were following the issue."

Here is some more info about AVP2 from Dark Horizons website:

"MTV News has posted a very in-depth interview with "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" directors Greg and Colin Strause, one filled with lots of spoilers and talk of a possible sequel.

Most interesting is that the pair distance themselves from the original AVP - "The studio knew that, although the last movie made a lot of money, it didn't really resonate solidly with the fans. To get the same people back into the theater a second time, it was gonna be a bit of an uphill battle." says Greg.

Colin confirms that neither he or his brother met with AVP director Paul Anderson - "I don't think anyone wanted us to talk to him. This movie works even if you didn't see [Anderson's]... We really have to prove to the fans that this movie's gonna be very different from the last one."

The pair also talk a lot about the R-rating, confirming a kid painfully and graphically dies onscreen via a chest burster alien. The Predalien hybrid kills a lot of Predators early in the film, and essentially serves as the 'Alien Queen' in this entry.

As for a sequel? "I'd like to do another one but I'd like to do it in space. The next one either has to be more of the bridge after this and before 'Alien,' or you could do something after 'Aliens. We have a pretty finite ending to this, but we have a cliffhanger per se; it's a setup" says Greg."

Nice one. Good to see somebody else promoting my website over here for a change.

What does everyone think about "Reiko Aylesworth" being in this film? I think it's a great casting choice. She is a perfect replacement for Sigourney as the female lead. Reiko even resembles her.

Is there a pseudo-Newt and a pseudo-Hicks and a pseudo-Ash, and a...

Really they should just retire the franchise or make Alien 5 without the embarassing self-referentiality that got old in Alien Resurrection.

Still the trailer looks gory. And gore is what made everyone like the Alien films in the first place right? It wasn't the story, the atmosphere, the set and creature designs, the acting...

Vent over ;-)

But this ISN'T an Alien film, it's Alien vs Predator, completely different tone.

Thank GOD it seems these guys don't really rate the first AvP and that they want to cater to fans. I just want it to be entertaining with lots of action and good characters, not just throwaway moment after throwaway moment with zero resonance.

By including Henrikson/Weyland in the first one they made it part of the franchise IMO.
Freddy vs Jason is a better example of a self contained movie mash up.

If the film is like the trailer then I won't bother - just another popcorn flick for the dumb masses.

Why don't Fox have the courage to release a true Alien sequel and let Scott have another bash? I guess he'd cost too much though and have too much control for the studios' tastes .....
