What did you think? personally I loved the film, the costumes the sfx all of it was brilliant, obviously the story is farfetched but that can only be expected of a film featureing aliens and predators lol, anyway your thoughts? :D

I would not say the SFX were brilliant, just good enough to pull the film off. The earth at the end looked very low res and pixelated, u could almost see the joins in the textures it was that bad.

hey, i have just returned from the cinema and saw Alien Vs Predetor, i have to say i very much enjoyed the film and it was very action packed, im guessing because of the way it enRAB they are most likly to make a sequel to it? Hope its good, thanks alot, Tom

I went to see AVP expecting it to be rubbish after all the bad reviews I had read for it apart from the one in SFX. People spend too much time comparing it to the other Alien and Predator film and not enjoying it for what it is which is a good sci-fi film!
The ending does signel a sequel which the director Paul Anderson told Empire Online that he wont be directing a sequel. "I'm not attached to any sequel. I never really made the movie with the intention of making a sequel. I wanted to do it as a stand-alone film that could hopefully succeed in its own terms, but also re-energise both franchises. So that Fox could go: 'Well, that made a lot of money! If you want to see Predators and Aliens again let's make a Predator 3, let's make an Alien 5.'
I dont think it will be long before we hear of either another AVP film or new Alien and Predator films!

I'm going to see it purely to be entertained, not for any film experience which I know it wont be. I love the Alien films and wont be upset by whatever they do to them as I see this film to stand apart from that saga.

So there. Bring on Wednesday!

OK, i just caem back from watching it.

Main thought: Not half as bad as I expected.

Ok course, the plot is riddled with flaws, the beginning is overlong without building up much suspense, the end comes too soon and too easily, but it is damn enjoyable.

What niggled me is the tagline: Its fabulous. 'Whoever wins, we lose' However, it doesn't hold true. If alien wins, we lose. If Predator wins.... hang on, Predator has been winning for thousanRAB of years, right? They dont care about humans or the planet or some Mars Attack type taking over? We hardly lose. Let the jamaican sea rats run free in the ice. :)

However, I dont know if I was alone but I joined in with audience participation (just me and my firend alone in the cinema) I WANTED ALIEN TO WIN. It is so much better on SO many counts, plus I love the Alien saga. Theyre so graceful, so elegant, so lethal. Predator only win because of all of their silly attachments- theyre cheating. And with the bomb thing, its a total easy way out. They didnt work for it, its something they had all along. No contest, but a bloody unfair one. In proper combat conditions Alien could win and lay waste to the world, and come on, thats what we really want to see, isn't it?

i thought it was ****ing awful.
the storyline was just crazy and far removed from the original comics and films. it was just typical hollywood.

load of bollocks, just glad i used my orange 241 on this

I have to agree with stusrealgirlf: it was truly terrible! From the far-reaching plot to the awful acting, everything about it was just nasty :( Can't say that I was particularly looking forward to it, but at the same time I was interested in seeing what they had done...

It suffers in the hanRAB of the 'Terminator Lite

Well I set it up in my mind and a mind numblingly stupid sequel, so it was a litttle better than that (not by far) but the fact that i barely paid anything to watch it and I love alien made it a fun night out. :)

Me and my friend walked home and ended up about talking about the science of alien and why their reproduction is pointless. :)

Special effects maestro Alec Gillies was talking about "AvP 2", to tie in with the DVD release of "Alien vs.Predator" on Region 1 DVD.

So what can we expect first, an “Alien vs. Predator 2” or solo “Alien” and “Predator” sequels?
Everything that I was hearing from the studio was that there was not going to be another Alien movie. And definitely was not going to be another Predator movie. They (the franchises) had been declining at the box office steadily, with each film. The box office just tapered off.
So this was a nice shot (AVP) – combining the two characters, that have proven themselves to be successful in the comic books and computer games.

The consensus seems to be, the fans would love an "Alien 5" with Ridley Scott back in the drivers seat though.
Personally, I don’t think either franchise is dead – we get people coming up to us and saying we loved [Alien] Resurrection, or [Alien] number three was my favourite and so on – and who wouldn’t want to see Ridley Scott do another Alien film? But I don’t know what the budget of that movie would be because the reality is, I don’t want to say they’re cult films, but they’re not movies that make a hundred million dollars. But that’s why they’re hoping to get folks like Ridley Scott involved. I’d love to see it. I think there are worlRAB there to be explored. I think its hard to create the magical that you had with the first one, Cameron did it beautifully by expanding…and the more sequels there are the more parameters are set up. At some point, you have to burst out of them.
I’m hoping with the AVP sequel that we’ll be able to go into some different directions that haven’t been explored yet.

So it looks like we are more likely to have a AVP sequel than any more sequels to Predator or Alien!

It's a shocker, terrible film.

A 15 too. What was that all about? How did they expect to make this film without genuinely going for it in the horror stakes?

A very misguided attempt to appeal to a wider audience, meant that the films one saving grace (the idea of horror violence between the 'aliens') was watered down, leaving a terrible plot and wooden acting from the old humans.

I thought AvP was great.

I think a great idea would be to make AvP 2 which had both Sigourney Weaver and Arnold Schwarzenegger in. As that would probably attract many people into watching it as it contains two great actors and they are both the basis of the Alien and the Predator series, and what started it all off :):):)

Although the chances of that happening are a bit slim i think.

cheers

I finally saw this at the weekend and wasn't expecting much. I enjoyed it a lot. Yes it was far fetched but it was still enjoyable.

The DVD also has an extended version that has an extra 6 minutes. Some of the extra film shows what went on at the whaling station 100 years earlier.

i thought this was the link in the series?

Predetor movies come first.... then AVP..... and then when at the end we see the alien burst out of the predator on the ship.... that links it to the first aliens film....
