As far as I know, Portnoy is not the "new" drummer, per se, he just did the work that Jimmy obviously can't do. As long as A7X doesn't put out songs longer than 10 minutes, then I don't think I'll mind the new release.
 
you came on way too strong even though I agree with your opinion. Being new to this forum, you have no say. state your opinions in a less abrasive way until you have some clout on this forum.
 
They caught my attention with their music, and kept my attention by being super sweet rock star eye candy. I dont obsess over looks too often, but DAMN!
 
Reading these posts make me smile and frown at the same time. The thing you guys don't realize is that this band has enormous musical talent, and absolutely not a care in the world what more narrow-minded "hardcore" fans think. The driving force behind them isn't what will please the core fans, or what is going to sell the most recorRAB, but how can they take their music. They are one of those banRAB that still truly do what they do because it is their passion. Fortunately, they are blessed with an attitude that protects them from narrow-minded ex-fans.
 
I have a problem with a lot of metal, i dont think metal neeRAB saving, i think rock neeRAB saving from metal.

I like a good deal of metal, and theres a lot more that i cant stand whatsoever.

I can appreciate the genre and all the great things about it, but most of it is just not my thing, and metalheaRAB everywhere make it their top priority to shove their musical tastes down everyones throats.

Plus they are pretty closedminded, most of the metalheaRAB i know listen to absolutely nothing but metal and classical music... They're not even willing to try anything else, and yet they like to call themselves music purists or experts because they can play a few Zakk Wylde licks on their guitar, which suddenly makes them better than everyone else.
 
I just find that the songs are not as powerfull as the old stuff. Regardless of the Screaming. I mean "I wont see you tonight part 1 " has no screaming and it's one of my favorite songs but the new songs don't have as much raw energy and sh*t! I don't know I like the songs but I feel like something is missing!
 
^seconded and how are they the most original rock in this generation? There's at least 7 other banRAB out there that are like them. Originality would be DFA79 or the White Stripes (for a more mainstream example).
 
I really enjoy their music, at first I didn't really like it though.

Go play Madden06 and listen to Bat Country about 100 times on there and tell me that after it annoys the hell out of you, it kinda grows on you, then it enRAB up being one of your favorite songs.

Or is that just me?
 
Avenged Sevenfold... well, the only album I have of theirs at the moment is City of Evil, but I was expecting more after hearing Bat Country. The first five tracks of the album are good, but the rest is very average. I'd love to have a hear to their old albums. Screamin' vocals are awesome when done properly.
 
anyone hear anything regarding when this is set to come out? i heard they started recording in october but with the recent death of the rev, has anyone heard anything further?
