Fair point.

In regarRAB to Aintitcool.com i trust their "reviews" (read: Fanboy rants) about as much as i'd trust Hitler's politics, lol.

Seriously though, i'm trying to stay neutral on the whole Avatar reviews issue (or at least as neutral as someone who's top two favourite films were directed by JC can be. Aliens and T2 if you were wondering). I don't want to get my hopes up too high.

It looks bollocks from the trailers I've seen.

I cannot stand the look of the aliens. Look like Jar Jar from what I can see.

I'll go and see it at the cinema just to experience the 3D (well, I sent to see My Bloody Valentine 3D) but I'm not expecting anything story-wise.

Hi, anyone know what the certificate is for Avatar? The BBFC has a 'short' documentary for it and that is a 12A, is this going to be the same for the actual film?

on the other hand, are aintitcool known for pushing sh*tty films at any cost? such sites get as much traffic from thrashing films with glee as they do praising.

That clip is some of the best CGI EVER, no question. And I love how Cameron has paced that scene too, how the music and everything DOESN'T overwhelm like in a lot of films, you do stick with the guy and feel what's happening to him.

However, is this what everyone wants? No. If think a lot of people are getting over-saturated with CGI. I hope to god the writing and performances are much better than what we normally expect from this sort of movie. This does look like a cross between the Star Wars prequels, Peter Jackson's King Kong, The Matrix trilogy etc. and they all had dodgy acting and writing (the first Matrix just about blagged it).

To me it's so obvious that Cameron has been massively inspired by Peter Jackson's work on LOTR and Kong. When he saw Gollum he must have sat up and thought 'wow, I want to do that!' and that's what he's gone ahead and done. Crossed with the huge lush environments as seen in Revenge of the Sith and Kong. All well and good, and I'm guessing it will beat both those films in term of quality, but can the audience be bothered with it all anymore??

I find it hard to understand why theres such a negative attitude to this film well even before it has been released.

Let us wait and see.

I have a feeling though it could be an all time great like Titanic.

I think it's just people jumping on the Aintitcool.com style bandwagon, by which i mean people are hoping that it's going to fail for no real reason other than it appears to be the popular opinion at this moment in time.

You simply cannot judge a film based on the trailers that we've seen so far, and anybody that does is an idiot (no offence to some of the people in this thread...). I'm going to see it on the 17th and THEN i'll give my opinion. The fact that it's by James Cameron is enough to get me in the cinema on release day.

I went to see this at the world premiere last night. (tickets were won in a competition)

I also had some views that people have on here regarding the film, from the TV adverts i really didn't get the hype.

The premiere started off with the cast beng introduced by the director and then a short speech from James Cameron.

The movie was without a doubt the most stunning piece of film i have ever seen in the cinema, the 3D effects are absolutely amazing, you feel really absorbed in the film.
The action sequences are absolutely outstanding.
I couldn't tell the difference between the CGI and live action (yes it's that good) and the acting was outstanding, and really is nothing like you'd expect it to be.

10/10 Well worth the 15 year wait.

I'm being neutral until i've seen it. But obviously, i hope that it's going to be good. Plus, it's Cameron....the man brought us 'Aliens' and the first two 'Terminators' which are some of my favourite films of all time ('Aliens' is my own personal favourite movie ever!).
