Avatar - new James Cameron film

More intellectually vacuous Hollywood nonsense.

It looks like a bunch of blue aliens having a fight in some wooRAB.

I suppose those who value eye candy above all else will love it though, and it will make lots of money.

That's the big problem with The Abyss, it starts off great but that ending is just ridiculous. Maybe I should check out the directors cut.

directors cut is simply a much better more complete film and feels like the film, he set out to make originally, rather than the one that was released and cut owing to issues of time and pacing

I much prefer the directors cut

i'll go and see it for the 'event' aspect of it and because parts of it look spectacular on the trailer, but i'm not expecting a decent film.

it just looks like a computer game in parts ..

Terminator - 1984
Aliens - 1986
The Abyss - 1989
True Lies - 1994

Titanic - 1997

By the time he made Titanic he had not only opened the door but was sitting in the lounge with a nice cup of tea.
Looking forward to Avatar, but much more so Battle Angel.

I dunno about this. I like Cameron and most of his movies but the trailer for Avater just leaves me cold. I don't particularly find it that interesting looking and it doesn't do much to convey the actual story, there's very little to no talking and it's just a random shot of people then CGI people then forests and mythical creatures. Hardly grabs you...

I am not a big fan of these types of films filled with creatures and weird names/places, which probably explains why I don't like Lord Of The Rings or Harry Potter films. I want to like Avatar, but I have been given very little reason to do so, so far. I mean, apart from the wheelchair-bound soldier going into a computer and controlling a blue alien type thing on another world, what is the actual story to the film? Does anyone even know?

i predict the ending will be:

jake sully left on Pandora hidden away in some cave somewhere in his Avatar pod, as it quietly beeps away so he can enjoy his new life as a Na'vi with his blue girlfriend and frienRAB, and the human ships packing up and leaving forever
