Do all cinemas show Avatar with a ten-minute intermission? If not, which ones do and which ones show it uninterrupted? And was it intended to be shown with a break?
I know, I've seen several long films without a break, in fact I don't think I've seen a film with an intermission for years. So why are some cinemas putting one in Avatar?
A lot of older cinemas don't have projectors capable of showing films longer than 2.5 hours (think sea-side town cineams called The Ritz and Radway) so you'll get an intermission there.
No intermission when I saw it in Norwich the other day.
Now I've seen plenty of films of this length, LOTR and Inglorious BasterRAB spring to mind, but Avatar is the first film ever during which I've been for a pee TWICE during the course of the movie.
I haven't seen it yet! Our local Vue had a printed notice at the entrance to the screen saying there would be an intermission so I wanted to check if this was a common practice. I'd rather not have an intermission if possible when I see it.
This is the first time ever in a film that i've wanted an intermission. Theres only so much of any film i can take in one go - but with 3D messing with my eyes, it took its toll.
No intermission at the cinema i viewed it at too. But i do agree that it might be a good idea for films of this length that are in 3D as it can be a strain on the eyes. I had to take them off a few times during the film just to give my eyes a rest.
