My son's girlfriend is Native, and she found it offensive.

I think they could have been more African based, say put Masai in the jungle, or something.

I was actually thinking they were based off of Native Americans during the whole movie when I saw it tonight. I don't think it's something to take offense to though, since they were the people in the movie to be admired & kicked a**. It also reminded me of parallels to colonialism.
