Avatar available for DVD pre-order!

Why would anyone buy this? Leading up to Christams there is bound to be another "special edition" release or an extended version or a director's cut or a 2 or 3 disc version.

Coming soon is the Blu Ray release of the LOTR trilogy. The original versions, not the extended ones. Same question why buy these when you know the other will also get released later?

IMO anyone who buys this release of Avatar is stupid.
 
Not being remotely interested by special or extended editions, then I'll be bying it, if only to play it to my GF and her Ma who refused to go see it at the flicks on the grounRAB that they're both tree-huggers at heart and claimed they wouldn't be able to watch the 'big-business beats locals' central thrust of the film. Having assured them it has a reasonably happy ending and the big bad meanies of the mining co. get their come uppance they'll watch it now.

So much for signing up on amazon to be notified about when the dvd release date is, i happen to go on play.com to search for something and that's when i found out

I shall purchase it. Curious to see the 2d version.
 
Is the future releases of extended editions confirmed or is it just hearsay?

They are selling a blu ray/dvd combi pack which is something I haven't seen before.
 
Cameron himself has been all over the place this week saying he's thinking of a theatrical re-release in the autumn, probably with extra footage. Seems he feels that Alice In Wonderland has hoovered up a couple hundred million of business he reckons should have gone to Avatar.
 
I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't so limited in what you can actually do with the copy. I bought Tropic Thunder last year, and the digital copy has now expired because they stupidly put an expiry date on it...

Also, why can i transfer it to an iPod and PSP but not my PS3's hard drive?
 
Why watch a film on something like an ipod in the first place... such a waste on a tiny screen.

I've pre-ordered the steelbook edition, not bothered about extras really. I'll borrow the next edition when it's out in the future to see anything of interest.
 
I think it's something to do with the fact the PS3 drive is FAT format, and can only take files of 4Gb or less?? Anyone care to correct?
 
I thought the whole idea of Avatar was that it was projected onto massive screens in glorious 3-D thus maximising the splendour Pandora has to offer (or some such bollocks). Wont the shortfalls in the plot, script and story be even more pronounced when watched on a small screen? Not actually seen it myself so it is a genuine question.
 
I have not seen Avatar in the cinema but will probably bye the basic dvd when it comes out and later in the year when it is released the Blu-Ray 3-D version.:cool::cool::cool:
