Avant-garde/Experimental?

Experimental can include groups from every single genre, not just rock n' roll. Avant-garde doesn't even limit itself to music.

There, I win.

I generally tend to have a liking for anything that's different than most other things, if that helps you on if you'd think I'd like Jandek or not. But I'll check out Arab On Radar for sure.

Thanks for the upload advice. I've never really bothered to check out that thread, so maybe I will now.

Yeah man. I've been getting into some krautrock lately myself, especially Neu!, Can, and Guru Guru (I'm not quite sure if Guru Guru are considered krautrock though.)

Then where do you suggest one would put an artist that doesn't limit itself to music? Surely not the general music forum.

Here's all of Tweedles! by The Residents if any of you are interested. You see, the thing about the Residents is that most if not all of their albums are concept albums. It's great. They have like 60 albums too. Tweedles!

yeah and experimental music would be great you know, because We all love making it, could discuss all the crazy things we do,

I'd agree with that.
I'd say avant-garde isn't even a genre, but is like you said, "without barriers" and can be found within all existing genres.

I agree that it would probably get minimal if not no attention, but I don't really agree that they'd fit comfortably into other forums. The only forum it would sorta fit into is alternative & indie because those are such general names. I suppose a lot of avant-garde or experimental artists can be put into more general genres based on the opinions of who is putting them into that genre. Let's take Mr. Bungle for example. They can easily be put into any of the forums that are here except for maybe pop. I lost myself...
