Auto mechanics....please help! Car window will not go up!!?

I have a 2000 Chevy Impala with automatic windows. The driver's side window will not raise. It is completely down and when I press on the buttons to raise the window, it sounds like it is trying to raise but it does not. Any ideas how to fix it?? Thanks!
 
your going to have to take off the door panel and check the window or glass is sitting on the rack that moves the window up and down. if the motor on the window still clicks the motor is still good
 
Sounds like the motor works just fine.

The link, what ever it may be between the motor and with window is broken. You're going to have to open up the door to take a looksy.
 
Well untill you remove the door panel, you will not know for shure. It could be that the window has fallen off the track, or the window regulator is bad, in any case remove the door panel and let us know here what you find. We can help.
 
hey, i had the same problem in my car and after going to a mechanic i found out that the rope of the window is cut so the machine works but the window does not go up.
change the rope
