Authors who were looked down on while they lived?

Hey everyone. Can you help me come up with people who were not allowed to express themselves which in the end resulted in their death? They don't necessarily have to be authors. I can use almost anyone. Also if you know any authors who were looked down on in their society because of their writings it would help a lot.
