Author of Arizona immigration law wants to end birthright citizenship

Americans won't do those jobs, and if they do, watch your prices for good skyrocket

the government hasn't done shit, if they were black, white, brown, green or orange, its the government

I know plenty of hardworking white boys

While I might like the idea of changing the anchor baby thing, I don't see where any state gets the authority to determine citizenship.
 
It won't pass Constitutional muster, but I've yet to meet anyone, especially here in Arizona, that likes the idea of unrestricted birthright citizenship. It's born more out of frustration than anything.

Just because a Canadian or a Mexican squirts a kid out of their vagina while on American soil shouldn't automatically make the kid a citizen and entitle their illegal parent(s) to gain access to resources that should be reserved for tax paying American citizens.

I would have no issue if one proven parent were an American citizen. If the mom is illegally in the country, and they don't know who the dad is or can't find him, too bad honey. You and your progeny get deported.
 
I tend to agree that it's weird to allow anchor babies. My point was that this would require a constitutional amendment. A state law doesn't appear to have any validity to me.

Of course, when you look at the demographics, changing the law now or in the near future probably makes no sense. Intellectually, anchor babies shouldn't happen, and really wasn't the intent of the law in my opinion. Practically, the US will need those kids.

I agree with the intent of the 14th Amendment as they originally had written it and their reasoning behind it. I wish it was more targeted towards their goal, as there was no reason to deny citizenship to prior slaves.

But I absolutely hate the idea that a mother can sneak in for an hour, pop out a kid in a US hospital, and legally never have to leave again.
 
Aren't we the only country in the world still allowing "anchor babies"? Or one of the very few?
 
As far as I know, the US is the only one. I would be very surprised if any other country allowed this.
