Australian anti-smoking laws too much?

I can understand not being able to smoke in some areas or around children. That's fine.

But it's going a little overboard now.
A few examples:

* As of July 2006, all hospitality venues are smokefree, including restaurants, bars, hotels, and most gaming venues.

* 'Smoke free zones' are located in random places around NSW streets and parks. You can be fined by a police officer or a ranger - just for having a cigarette in an out door public place!

* Outdoor smoking ban to include children’s playgrounds in Cessnock, NSW.

* Proposed bans on smoking inside of your own car.

* As of July 2, 2007, the only workplaces where smoking will be permitted is in private gaming areas at the Star City Casino, Sydney.

I can understand the health aspect to it, but I think it goes a little too far with outdoor smoking bans.

We're smokers, not lepers.
