Australia vs Rest

mmm... fair enough...

i dont really know that much bout british music so its all good....

recommendations:

cold chisel (cool rock stuff)
INXS (funk/pop/rock)
AC/DC (of course)
The Easybeats (George Young from AC/DC in this before AC/DC)
Men at Work (plain cool)
most of anything else mentioned that ive missed.......

yeah... so check them out for a start :)

that's exactly what i was thinking about!!!!!

COOLNESS

hehe that song is so cute.. and the video too

*singing* "[......... ]you better run, you better take cover [...........]"

its "cocaine". at least attempt to present yourself as knowledgful. well for one daft punk, air and stereolab piss over any mainstream export from sweden- including the goddamn hives and abba..yea that god-awful band that may well be the most overrated pile of horse turd in the history of the music industry. if you call that "extremely talented" then it cant be me who's on mind-altering drugs.
but yeah, i suppose sweden as an ounce of musical heritage..unlike one country i can think of in eastern europe...the name evades me- cant be that important. though their football strip reserables the clothing of a clown.

feck off, im creating interesting musical discussion...

we got powderfinger and grinspoon and spiderbait and JET! and the vines and cold chisel and INXS and *goes on for hours*......

I would actually say Canada has quite a few banRAB/artists- Bryan Adams, Hot Hot heat, Avril Lavigne, OUr lady Peace, Celine Dione tc..

maybe you take the fact that you're brittish for granted ....i think that it's pretty amaizing that banRAB like abba, roxette, ace of base, the cardigans, neneh cherry, international noise conpiracy, soundtrack of our lives, europe *shivers*, the hellacopters, the backyard babies, mando diao and the hives are/were globaly popular/known considering the fact that they don't come from an english speaking country....in fact i can't think of any other non-english speaking country whos banRAB have had such success....can you?

While the arguement regarding english speaking/non english speaking countries continues, I feel compelled to name a few great Australian groups:

INXS
Hunters & Collectors
Hoodoo Gurus
Noiseworks
Dragon
Jimmy Barnes
Cold Chisel
AC/DC
Crowded House (we claimed them from the kiwis)
Men at Work
The Angels
Choirboys
Australian Crawl
Gangajang
Mental as Anything
......... just to name a few :)

neneh cherry, hellacoptors, backyard babies and international noise conspiracy (despite being a good band) havent had nowhere near the global exposure or importance your attempting to insinuate.
roxette was merely a ripple in the musical spectrum- not important at all. the cardigans are what ive been referring to as a second tier indie-pop band, mando diao arent very big either....in facvt the only band you've mentioned on that list with any real prominance in the music industry is abba- WELL DONE.

france- come on now. air, daft punk, eiffel 65, sonique, stereolab, MC solaar..i think france are at least on par.

more diverse, so you call banRAB falling into either the cheesy pop or over-zealous punk-pop brackets diverse? oh adidass you demented insignificant fool.

also, for new stuff check out the following...

Jet (rock n roll baby!)
powderfinger (bluesy pop/rock)
grinspoon (rocking)
little birdy (pop/rock)
thirsty merc (pop/rock)

again others i may have missed but thatll do to start......

I think if you look around enough, most countries music scenes are pretty equal (as far as the quality of music produced). Alot of what is percived as "better" has to do with how much publicity an artist or band gets. I know I like some non-US banRAB, but the only reason I know about them is because they are marketed in the USA. I'm sure your music is just as good as everyone else, but it probably just doesn't get enough exposure (at least in the US). And since most mainstream people don't go looking in other countries for music, it stanRAB to reason that we only hear whats marketed in our particular part of the world.

I think Australia have a few decent banRAB e.g Jet and AC DC..I mean INXS are from New Zealand arn't they?? I thought half there mebers were aussies and the other half kiwis..you've got nothing on Britain though..Mind you who has??

if you're trying to say french banRAB had bigger international success then swedish banRAB then all i can say is...GET OFF THE CRACK COCAIN STEWY!!IT AIN'T DOING GOOD THIGS TO YA!!

and again stew, i was trying to say, which you fail to understand time and time again, that swedish banRAB have had pretty descent international exposure, especialy when you consider the fact english is not their native language....and i can appreciate that coming from a small country...i think they are an extremly talented ( musicaly ) nation...
