Austin Rock Camp? (It's kinda long, but please read)?

There is this thing call Rock Camp here in Austin (TX) where you form a band and write songs and play music, record a cd, and get to play a big concert at the end and it's like two weeks long in the summer. I play bass guitar and my bass teacher is a teacher at Rock Camp. I didn't really want to do it b/c I won't know anyone, I don't think i'm good enough, plus I wanted to do a soccer camp this summer. My dad signed me up without my permission which made me really mad, cause I know he's only doing it because he wants me to make friends in this area, even though i have friends, they just live 45 min away (I moved about 6 months ago). Anyways, it's like $500 and you have to audition, but my teacher got me a scholarship thing. I can tell he went to a lot of trouble to get it for me, but I really don't want to do it, what should i do? Has anyone been to Rock Camp? Is it worth it, should I just go?
 
Well look, I got an electric guitar and I don't really know how to play much, but think, they might probably show you how to play a bit better, or give you some tips. Probably you will meet other people there that also don't play very well and you make friends with them and play and learn music toghether. So I think you should go. (I never been to a camp but you're making me want to go to one) ^.^
