Audio through Palm data port?

I'd like to have a cradle for my TX with audio out - for a tidy car installation, rathar than having separate power and headphone plugs.

Do you suppose that this product has its own separate D/A converter, and just reads the data?

And has anyone seen a doodad like I need? It's a bummer that folks with iPods can get this stuff, but we can't. :(

Wouldn't work in the car as-is, but looks like it's a standard power cord, so I could use it with my car cord. Anyone have one of these?

I have a T|X and it works thru the cradel. I use Pocket tunes plus. The speakers are here. Music sounds great. However, as good as they sound with music they sound like crap with my police scanners.
 
If what you want to do is play your music in the car try a Belkin FM Transmitter .

They are usually about $50 at CompUSA, Circuit City, etc. but I saw them the other day at Wal-Mart for about $35. This little toy is terrific, I play my music I download and podcasts on my car speakers. You can either use two AAA batteries or you can plug the adapter into your cigarette lighter and save the batteries. I paid a little more for the unit that included the car adapter.

PS. Does anyone know of any software that will capture podcasts and que them up automatically to sync them to the Palm TX? I currently use iTunes, but have to add them manually using the Palm Quick Install.
 
I've got a hardwired solution from Crutchfield -- it feeds an aux input into my Ford stereo, making it think it's the CD changer. With that, the cradle, and a car charger, and a little ingenuity, I should be able to mount that cradle in my car, and simply drop my T|X on it and charge and listen at the same time.

Now I just need to run the wires... :eek:



If you're using a PC, iPodder (okay, now it's called "Juice") can queue them to sync... but there's a trick to it.

* In iPodder/Juice...
* Go into file|preferences
* click on the "advanced" tab
* check the "Run this command after each download" box
* in the text field below, paste the following line (assuming you installed your Palm software with default settings):

"C:\Program Files\palmOne\QuickInstall.bat" %f

* Hit "save"
* Open Notepad (start|run|notepad)
* Paste the following line:

"C:\Program Files\palmOne\QuickInstall.exe" "%1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9"

* Save the file you just created as...
C:\Program Files\palmOne\QuickInstall.bat

* That's it! As podcasts are downloaded, they'll go into the "quick install" app to be synched to the Palm.

(The "%1 %2..." business takes care of filenames with spaces, and then pushes the file to Quick Install via the command line.)
