I have a right hand drive, 6 speed manual, Lexus IS200. For those of you who don't know what that is, except for the engine, everything is the same as an IS300. I'm really trying to make this car sound good, with out sacrificing room. I really like the stock look, so I want to hide 1 10 inch Kicker L7 in the very back of my trunk. My question is, should I face the box so the face is against the back seats, or will that muffle the sound? i really want it to have a hidden look. Like my system just pounds for no reason, since I'm not really going to do it for the high performance, just to improve the bass.

Hey mate,

Since every car is different, the bass is going to respond differently in a different cabin. So what sounded good in one car will sound sloppy in another even if the subwoofer is in the same place. What I suggest you do is grab a friend to help you by moving the box in different positions in the boot while you sit in the drivers seat and listen. Once you have found the spot where it sounds the best then you can fix it in that position.

To get the "hidden" look you are after I suggest you look at making a fiberglass enclosure for your sub and cover it in carpet that matches your vehicles carpet.

Good luck,

Ben.

usually you want the sub to face the trunk and have the magnet facing the back seats and so on. b/c the sounds waves shoot in that direction
