in FY2010? Is it true there are more jobs available at meps at the start of a new fiscal year? ive been to meps for the army reserves and there were barely any jobs available in my area. so now i've decided to finish my last year in skool and join the navy on active duty status once i graduate. i've looked into going to navy ocs but i was told with my major which is political science i have a slim to none chance in being accepted into navy ocs. so i must enlist. im looking at the hm rate for the navy but i was told that it was closed off to women for the year. im not really interested in bonuses or anything, as a bonus is simply what it is called, a bonus and its not a deciding factor. now don't get me wrong, whatever bonus is available, i will surely take but my main priority is getting this rating even if that means i have to wait a year in dep. i want this rating because im interested in going back to school for nursing one day and i feel this rating will give me the experience to see if this is something i really want to do while also having the opportunity in serving my country. i'd rather get a taste of nursing from the military before going back to school and wasting more money like i've done already. will this rating open up for women at the beginning of the fy10?
i know that the fiscal year starts october 1, that's why i'm asking now. negative responses are unnecessary!
The reason I do not want to change my major to nursing because I'm only two semester away from graduating. If I were to change my major to nursing, I will be in school for 3 more years! And as for NROTC, i was told by the NROTC instructors that I should have joined no later than my sophomore year. The reason I did not join when I first began my collegiate career was because my school doesn't have NROTC so I would have to cross register at Ga Tech and not having a car and dealing with my classes at my school would have made things difficult.
By the way my AFQT score is an 80. I'm not sure about the line scores, but I doubt I'd have an issue trying to qualify for the navy.
