It finally happened to me the other day. I got the red lights and now I have to send it back to Microsoft. Have any of you had success in sending back their Xbox 360 and did you have to do anything special since you didn't actually buy the damn thing?
 
It should be under manufacturer's warranty. The damn thing isn't even a year old. You should be able to get in touch with MS and send it to them.


edit: Owait. Just read that you said you're sending it to MS (was thinking you were sending it to a reseller of some sort). I don't get why you'd think there might be a problem...
 
Call them up. If it is past 30 days (which I assume it is if you won it through the Mountain Dew promotion) they will charge you for repairs, unless you bought the extended warranty. Call 1-800-4myxbox and ask them
 
It's not 30 days, it's 90 days

Mine bit the dust in April, far past the 90 days and they are fixing/replacing it for free without question
call them and find out
 
Maybe I'm just an idiot and didn't read that post right

it's 90 days if you buy it normally, my bad

but I don't see why they would make it 1/3 the time just because you won it? that seems rather silly
 
Lie about when you got it.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter when you actually bought the system, its when you recieved it. So say your GF/Parents bought it for you as a present and you want to insure it.
 
Well, the serial for the xbox360 was on xbox live on or before release date, so i doubt i could lie about when i received it. In any case, its too late for that now because he already put all my info in the system.
