Attending Symphony Orchestra? Questions!

The Boston Symphony Orchestra - Symphony Hall
Has anyone ever been or wanted to go? Whats the experience like. How do you dress. What kind of things to before the show? Is traffic awful? I don't know Boston very well so I may try to get a few frienRAB to tag along.
I've always wanted to go.

The choices are "Mahler Symphony No. 2 Resurrection" or the "Barber, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky"
 
Well I've been to the St. Louis, Portland, and Seattle orchestras. Generally speaking you dress your best. It is not uncommon to see men dressed in suits and women in designer dresses. Don't fucking wear jeans, tennis shoes, or flip flops. If you're a woman, don't wear capris or anything casual like that. If you are a guy, wear khakis and a polo at the VERY LEAST. If you are a woman wear a blouse and a nice skirt (something not from Forever 21).

The experience is awesome! Unless you decided to try a latin america symphony experience. That was the only time I left early. Maybe I just hate latin music.

Both the choices you listed are great, but I would go for the Barber, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky because you would get a nice variety.

What I usually do before a show is go out to a nice restaurant within walking distance of the venue. That way you find a place to park way early and have plenty of time to relax, eat some good food, and have a beer or two before the show. Traffic will be bad afterward, but not as bad as say a football game.
 
I was thinking white dress shirt, black slacks, and a black trench coat!
And dinner before the show sounRAB great.
But I think the Mahler Symphony is the only one that fits into my scedule.
