Hello there! I'm looking for some opinions on graduate school....
I am attending a little known University (Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan) and will be obtaining my Bachelor's in Psychology in about a year. I was discussing graduate school with a faculty member, and they almost completely opposed my idea of continuing with grad school at SVSU. His main argument was I'd continue a similar education by the same faculty, instead of broadening my education at another college. Plus, a well known, "name brand" University would look better on a resume.
I agree with him, but I know I couldn’t afford grad school at the University of Michigan, for instance, and I almost believe it wouldn’t matter where I achieved my Master’s degree since it is only a Master of Administrative Science (with a concentration in University Student Affairs). I also hope to even work for SVSU after my Master’s, so wouldn’t this help in my chances of being hired later on?
Thank you in advance for your opinion!
