Attempting modem setup

I'm going to be attempting the modem setup in a few minutes on my 8700g but just want to be 100% sure...this will be using my data plan, not minutes, correct? Only asking because I have just the data plan with no minutes plan and I don't want to be socked with charges

Boo-ya! Didn't connect at first, but when I added the init string I was sailing. I've only had the BB for 2 weeks now and just figuring out all it can do. It's a slow connection (115k compared to my 6.0meg cable), but it's a connection Still seemed slower than dialup though...maybe a setting needs to be tweaked or something. Still cool though

no 115 is about what I get, glad you got it working and remember as long as your on an unlimited data you are good to go.
I use mine when I'm on the road
a little to slow for normal everyday use but better than nothing

Definately better than nothing if you need it! By slow though I meant that it didn't even seem like 115k...seemed slower than even dialup. Oh well, cheaper than a hot spot account so I won't complain

Be careful as when the carrier detects you are using your device as a "Tethered Modem", the may either turn it off, or charge you $79.00 a month (instead of the unlimited data plan) for the Tethered Modem service.

don't think that is an issue with tmobile. used mine for 4 days, consistantly with no prob.
tmo doesn't have the tethered modem service plan.

what kayos said..right now thats my only way to connect at home.....it was slow at first, but my pc was DLing microsoft updates so it ran slower. but now thats done it seems to load faster.

you could always do a speed check and see how fast you're really going

edit: also if you look on TMO's website( ifyou have TMO that is ) they tell you exactly how to set it up ! and it wont cost anything extra ( per them) other than your $20 data plan
