Atonement

I would have looked forward to the film if that damn irritating Keira Knightley wasnt in it, she cant do anything but pout in every film she is in, such a good role wasted on an awful actress

I don't like Knightly but the storyline of this movie has sparked my interest.
I'm worried about graphic war scenes, so if anyone's seen it, could you let me know if there's anything nasty in it pweeease?

Not a fan then?

I am though Atonement isn't my favourite of his books. That would probably be Enduring Love, which didn't turn out as a great film.

Well, a lot of it is set at Dunkirk before the retreat, so there's not that much actual warfare in it.

However, there is a scene featuring the killing of horses (to prevent them being used by the Nazis as they would have to be left behind). Also, there is a scene in a hospital showing the results of battle, where you can see someone's brain.

I just came back from seeing this film tonight. It's absolutely breathtaking and heartfelt.

First class acting of all lead characters, particularly loved the young Briony.

Guys for any of you put off by Knightely be assured, she's actually not in it that much.

I am not a fan of hers at all, but really wanted to see this movie. Believe it or not, she's good in it - NOT AMAZING!! but believable.

The young Briony and James McAvoy steal the show.

I thought it was a great film, beautiful cinematography, amazing editing, lovely feel to it, especially the first section.

Agreed, Saorise and James were absolutely superb. Keira was okay, but not sure whether she will get the Oscar nod for this performance. Several people around me were crying by the end.

I loved the typing sound effects throughout the film, so chilling...

I enjoyed the film(7 0ut of 10) but i have to say young Irish actress Saoirse Ronan stole the show in the acting stakes, she was amazing in all her scenes.

I Think she deserves a Best Supporting Oscar Nom next year as she was electrifying in her role and has a very bright future ahead of her.

By the way,i thought both Keira and James were good in the lead roles but not exceptional.

My friend went to see and said that McAvoy's accent was really annoying is that true? But other than that his performance was great. WIll still go see it though it looks good.

Loved the film, never was a Keira fan, but now I believe she can act, I really liked her. I read the book a couple of years ago, and it's a pretty good adaptation, even like the book, the first part is better than the second, imho.

I think MCAvoy was really good, but I agree, the accent is not good at all.
