i saw it last night...best film i've seen in a long, long time. A little confusing, with the time jumps but the beauty of the film more than made up for it.

Give them all an oscar for goodness sake!

I liked this movie a lot. I've never read the book, though. It seems like a lot of people I know who saw this didn't like it. My mom in particular hated the way it ended and that it wasn't a happy ending, but I thought that just added to the movie. I really liked Briony's character.

The matches for the Briony character were brilliant too!
Oh and I think Atonement definitely has a good chance of getting those. Especially the score, the score is superb!

So I recently saw this film and really liked it. But I couldn't connect emotionally like I wanted to. The leads are ripped apart just as fast as they came together so I didn't really get a chance to feel their feelings for one another. It felt like I wasn't involved, I was just watching from afar. (Not meant to be taken literally) :)

James' acting was impressive. Keira's wasn't challenging enough to get a nomination, imo.

Definitely:nod: She was a little on the creepy/weird side but I think that is exactly what made her effective.

I think Atonement stands a pretty good chance of winning for art direction, cinematography and score. Hopefully.

Im so looking forward to this movie , I watched the trailer and it was totally captivating , I read and finished the book that same week . Part of me wishes I havent read the book because I feel spoiled . But Im sure it will all be worth it

I don't really see it as a love story. At least not a classical one, or a romantic one, because clearly that's only part of it. I see it more as a drama that deals with, but doesn't entirely focus on, love. Robbie's feelings for Cecilia were what facilitated Briony's mistake/lie/act, which led to someone being punished for something they hadn't done, and the guilt she felt for the rest of her life. As a consequence, the person he loved never saw him again. But I don't think it was exclusively a love story.

Yeah me too. I'm not the biggest Kiera fan, but I LOVE JAMES.

He deserves to win some awards, including the Oscar. :D

SAG, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and whatever other awards they give for the movie actors. :)

 It can be pre-ordered from most places now, but the date for it is umm Feb 4th, I think.

Just saw this film, it was great! :sigh: The acting was amazing.

It is difficult to tear your eyes away from James, something about him... :sigh:

LOVE the art!

yeh i agree it is disapointing when the good ones have nothing but i hope this one has :)
