ITA. She wasn't evil per se like even James himself thought her to be. She was just an eccentric little girl who grew up to come to realize the mistakes she had done and seeks atonement from it.
I've gone over this a few times and I still kind of hate Briony. Had she been 9 I could've understood more. I know that it was her mistake as a child and that she didn't mean to, it's her story of guilt and sadness, but there's a part in which kid Briony is so mean spirited that it stuck with me. Hee.
I watched this movie a couple of days ago and loved it, but it's so incredibly sad! I cried a lot, especially at the end when I realized that Robbie and Cecilia never got to see each other again
The book's really good. The movie cut out a lot of things, especially regarding Robbie in the war, but I thought it stayed pretty faithful to the book.
I finally watched the film last night - and I loved it
Keira and James rocked - they were just a great mixture of beauty and pain, passion, heartache, longing, despair- all the things that come with being in love - the green dress was soooo pretty - I would love to own something like that.... the library scene was hot - brief, but hot - great great acting
I really didn't expect Cee to die either - that was a bit of a shock....
I hated Briony - little sisters are a a pain in the butt grrr sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. I really didn't like her as an adult either - she was cold and severe - and only saw the brief glimpse of humanity with Luc at the hospital bed
The scenery was absolutely divine - one of my favourite parts of the movie - each scene was pristine, magnificent from the English summer to the beach at Dunkirk.
I'm going to watch it again tonight - with directors commentary :yay: - get a better understanding maybe
I can't wait to see this movie!! I read the book last year in a class and liked it.But after seeing the trailers,I think I'll love the movie more.Everything feels right...and the score is beautiful.
I made some icons at my LJ today because I was thinking of it
Atonement Icons at my LJ (below the Gossip Girl ones haha)
What a fantastic movie! Magnificient performances by all! Everyone deserves Oscar nom's (though they really mean nothing these days) Joe Wright's direction was superb. My thoughts arnt very coherent right now forgive me. I might be able to put more into these thoughts later  [sp]Such a devastating ending![/sp]
