really? she was just a child...I know James McAvoy felt that way about her too but i just felt really sorry for her...

I'm for Atonement all the way. So sad we're not gonna hear their speeches when they win.

I loved this movie! It was so sad, I was completely shocked at the ending...I had no idea [sp]that they both died. (in case anyone still hasn't seen it)[/sp]

I just got the book, I haven't started it yet though.

^^It's just heartbreaking, but outstanding. James McAvoy was just amazing, everyone was. This film should definitely get Oscar nods, if there's any justice!

Ooo, so excited for this movie! I've been trying to get to the book, but that just isn't happening right now. :( Sad. But, I have this to look forward to. I saw an interview in Cosmo with James and he talked about this movie and it sparked my interest. I also love both James and Keira, so it's a win-win situation. :D

:glow: Kate

I went to see it again today :) and I loved it even more the second time than I did the first...if that's even possible?
such a beautiful movie!

I saw this film a while ago when it first came out in the UK and thought it was amazing. I can't wait until it comes out on DVD, which I believe is the 4th february?
I went with a male friend of mine who loved it just as much as I did.

i watched atonement the other day. that's incredibly sad. and i think briony did a right thing to give Robbie and Cecilia their happiness in her novel. hope is always the best atonement.

the movie was really good.
i read the book before  its one of my favorites... i was worried how it would transition from book to movie but it was great. they didn't take out very much (unsual for that time of stuff). :)

i'd give it 4 stars

I agree with all of this, but I'm irrational about the way she kept insisting she knew it was Robbie.

I do enjoy the fact that she admits all of her faults, but even if, it was too late. :( But yeah, she is a great character in that way.

I'm 100% sure that there isn't a character I hate more than Briony, soo selfish! I was planning to read the book after but I don't think I can stand reading her inner thoughts. James broke my heart :(

[sp]It turns out that they both died before they could meet up at this cottage that they had planed to...Robbie died on the last day of evacuation and Cecilia died 4 months later in london blitz...and Briony ofcourse felt responsible that they never got to truly be together so in her book she made them live happily...so sad[/sp]

I saw the movie again last night. Still loving it

I never read the book. I'm thinking of buying it, but I never have time to read. It will probably be collecting dust on my shelf before I have time to start reading it.

I absolutly looooved this movie, I cried so hard at the end. I liked every aspect of the movie the love tale of Keira and James & the redemption that Briony wanted so badly... I really loved it. & I diagree with you Dark Half Undine because yes she made mistakes but it takes a person truley seeking atonement to try & make things right. I think that yes she was such a little ***** for lying but in the end what mattered was realising what she had done & trying to make up for it.

I cant believe it only got 5 critics choice noms and none for James, Keira, Saoirse or Romola! :(

Hey guys, i finally saw Atonement today, a good movie - i recommend it, James was great as usual, when he cries it makes me want to cry, and those blue eyes :D

Keira was great too, and also the little girl who plays Briony and also the older Briony

But James was the best, i love the guy ever since i saw him in Shameless (tv show) :)

Also brought the book :D lol

DreamOn777 - great icons :)
