After about 4 months of waiting the time is now rapidly approaching. I fly in to Atlanta on Thursday for a week trip to the Smokies - I can't wait.

I have already gleaned a lot from this forum, and have 2 quick questions I hope you can help with

1. I have a day to spare in Atlanta and I am keen to visit some dealers. From the HD site I see there are 6 dealers all within easy distance. Is there one in particular that has more on offer? Also, is there an Indy shop that is anything special?

2. I have done some research on the "dry areas" around devil's triangle. Whilst having a skin full every night is not quite the plan I know we will enjoy a few ales. Can you recommend any towns that are really conveniently located and have decent camp sites / cabin rentals?

Thanks and looking forward to seeing this beautiful part of the US

if you want to visit a couple HD dealers I would suggest Harley-Davidson of Atlanta which is right off of I-20 about 15 mimutes west of Atlanta.

Another suggestion would be Great South Harley Davidson, which is about 30 minutes south of Atlanta on I-85.

Have a good trip. The weather is finally starting to cool off and this weekend looks great.

If you are going to the Devils Triangle, You more than likely will take I-75 north to Knoxsville, TN. Just before you get to I-40 Take a right on 321 and go over to Smokey Mtn HD in Maryville. Great Dealership! Plus it's a great area to find a place to stay as well.

Don't know which day is your free day but if it's Friday beware of rush hour. Atlanta traffic sucks. You've got Stone Mountain HD and Atlanta HD, one of the east side of I-20 and the other on the west. If you're looking to hit some on your way up north I'd check out Fraziers or Earl Smalls, they could be in your travel path.

I like the guys at Great South HD in Newnan (south of ATL)...the biggest used inventory I've seen is usually at Earl Smalls HD in Marietta. That's also a favorite for me...

Get the Hell out of Atlanta as soon as possible, nothing but traffic there, and get to east Tennessee. Much to enjoy in TN. Great roads, Great food, Great drink, especially the local liquor, and Great folks.

Go north!!!!!!
Beware the Atlanta traffic!!!!! It's bad...I travel through twice a day.
North Ga is really nice, and the weather is finally slightly cooler. Check out Blue Ridge, Blairsville, Dahlonega.
The Dragon will be chaos this weekend, use extream care. The Cherohalla Skyway is a much more pleasant ride...get time to take in the sights.
Have fun, and ride safe.

There is a nice dealer in Cartersville, I think it is owned by Earl Smalls as well. It is just off I-75 last Cartersville exit I believe. Like the others have said get out of the Atl quick and head north.

Lots of great tips as well, thanks guys. Unfortunately my spare day is Friday and involves me getting right across town to pick up a mate who flies in from Tucson. I have booked a hotel North of Atlanta so that means right across town. Thereafter we set the compass north and head out so I guess I will just have to put up with one crappy traffic experience
