Atheists - why the lack of perception?

Many of you constantly use the leprechaun/unicorn argument as a defense for not believing in things unseen, while many people on here give you example after example of things that were thought to be nonexistent until discovered. WHY, then do you still consider this a viable argument? I mean it should be OBVIOUS to you now that it can go either way with these unseen things right? SOMETIMES there are things unseen yet imagined that are discovered to be a reality and SOMETIMES there are things unseen yet imagined that are discovered to be a HOAX! Shouldn't you at the very least admit that the possibility of there being a God is 50/50?
