Atheists: What's the point in arguing about disproving religion when we NEED it to

achieve happiness in life? There is no point in going any further about who's right. Atheists, I can accept you for who you are as long as you just stop trying to get us all into believing that religion is wrong by using logic, the government, and the Department of Education to make all your beliefs facts. There's no point in continuing to argue about this because either way, someone will lose the argument and not benefit. I want everyone to benefit as a whole, so just keep your beliefs in your head, don't express them through your mouth because that just makes you look conceited, mean, and like bad people. I know you're all not bad.
MY POINT is that we need religion because we BELIEVE in it. When someone BELIEVES in something, they have hope and faith. Without religion, there will be the complete opposite - despair. Everyone will be living naked on the streets. People will riot and set fire to houses that the rich live in. Our president, Barack Obama, could possibly be assassinated, and he is very religious. So please, keep your beliefs to yourselves. All of this can be prevented if you just keep quiet and end the argument without an answer.

No athest attempts to disprove religion. We usually attempt to disprove that supernatural forces and beings ought to be viewed as real and germaine to discussions about the natural world or philosophy.

For example if faith in the supernatural tells you how old the earth is, or that two men living together as a family is immoral, then we have a serious disagreement and we need to work it out logically with facts and that discussion begins with whether each persons source of authority is logical and reliable.

You dont need religion to achieve happiness.
If youre godless and you dont believe in an afterlife you appreciate life more.
We are happier....and I argue/question because I can :]

so you are saying you would rather live a blissful lie than a bitter truth?

sorry i can't delude myself and i would rather that other people didn't either.

I would also the separation of church and state be upheld, so when a religious organization pushes for legislation on ONLY their religious zeal, then i won't "keep quiet"

1.) I accept any religion I do not care. I find religion very interesting but not something I would believe in
2.)You can believe what you want to believe I will not go against it on less you start arguing with me about how your beliefs are right and you want me to follow them
3.) You are practical saying that our way will lead to destruction, but your "beliefs" already have lead to much destruction and chaos.
4.) If we need to keep our mouth shout you all have too because we don't like your beliefs being forced on use

"Without religion, there will be the complete opposite - despair. Everyone will be living naked on the streets. People will riot and set fire to houses that the rich live in."

When you stop posting moronic "arguments" such as the one above with no factual basis, then I will stop using logic on you, deal?

People should base their lives on reality.

If a perfect entity existed it would be complete within itself and have no need to create a universe or us.

"When someone BELIEVES in something, they have hope and faith."

What about religions that believe homosexuals should be put to death?

Use your freaking head before you post this drivel.

The viral meme is strong in you and has convinced you that you could not possibly be happy without its command of your mind. If you ever dislodge it, you may come to see all this from a completely different perspective.

I'm sorry to hear you need that to be happy.
Fortunately I escaped that.

Also you tell us to keep our mouths shut. That reminds me about how atheists came to my house to tell me how they don't believe, oh wait, that you theists!

Who's arguing?

Some people ask questions, other people answer them.

As long as christians continue to proselytize unbelievers, there will be atheists continuing to voice the logic and reasons why they do not believe.

It goes both ways. If you want atheists to stop reacting, I suggest you get your brethren to stop proselytizing their beliefs to unbelievers; to stop trying to get their beliefs legislated into laws; to stop trying to insert their beliefs in public school science curriculum.

Deal?

You've GOT to be kidding me?

Why should I keep quiet about what I believe? If this exact statement were made exchanging atheist for Christian, you would not agree, you would be angry, the question would be reported.

Realize how ignorant you are being making generalizations about how people without religion feel. I'm quite happy and would be quite miserable *with* religion.

STUPID GROSS GENERALIZATIONS

STOP CALLING US AND OUR LIVES HOPELESS, MEANINGLESS, FULL OF DESPAIR, IMMORAL, ETC!!!

And why do we have to keep our beliefs to ourselves when nothing is stopping you from doing it? You know what a society is called when only one group has control and everyone else has to live by your rules? There are a few names... Communist Regimes and Dictatorships. And do you know what happens when those people take over? Genocide.

If you enjoy democracy and the right to express your opinion, stop trying to squash out everyone else who doesn't agree with your point of view. Have a little respect.

Hypocritical fool.

Hope and happiness are not directly connected to religion.

I'm atheist, and I'm very hopeful for the human race and myself. I'm also very happy.

You don't need religion to be happy and hopeful and you don't need happiness and hopefulness to be religious.

All the people I know saying Obama will be assasinated are Christians. No atheist lies in the street naked. You are trying to be resionable but you just sound stupid.

Holy shit yo, you have my first name and last initial! Lmao XD

Even the same picture...I'm starting to think you're the creepy stalker girl from my school that scanned through my account, and you are trying to make me look like a christian...Or you're someone else trying to redeem something...Even though there's nothing to redeem, last I checked you don't need to practice the religion of a place just because you go there. Like if you check in to a methodist hospital, it doesn't mean you're methodist, it just means you needed to go to a hospital.

OKAY, enough ranting XD

You don't need religion to be happy in life...You can achieve happiness in many ways

As an atheist, I believe that you make your own destiny, since there isn't a religion to decide it for you. So you should full-heartedly follow what you want to become! You don't need a religion to be happy...It'd be like a placebo. Like a sugar pill. You think it's working, but it's just your mind.
