Atheists only. How do you judge right from wrong with no moral code?

Always wondered about that. Atheists, If you were all placed on a land with no laws, no courts, no prisons, would anything prevent you from acting in a uncivil manner? Would anything go if there was no grounds for a moral conscience? Describe what your world would be like please. I'm at a loss for comprehending that.
Since I asked, I'm not giving anyone thumbs down because I really wanted to hear what you had to say to express yourself.
I believe that God gave everyone a conscience to KNOW what is right and wrong in their heart and mind. What they do with that is a matter of their free will that God gave us.
Rom 2:15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,

Heb 8:10 "FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

No, of course not. Humans have a built-in moral system. Have you ever noticed that as soon as a woman sees a baby, she swoons and calls it adorable? Or that if you see somebody fall, you go up to them and see if they're ok? There are no laws telling us to do those things. They are genetic traits that come with having advanced frontal lobes.

I feel very sorry for you. So you believe that those who don't believe in your beliefs, your bible and your god have no morals? You believe that goodness and correct morals only comes from your god?

we would rationally enact laws while the christards stoned each other to death

Ever wonder how people survived before your religion came about?

wow. is this a serious question.

is the bible the only thing keeping you from raping, killing and stealing? maybe, you're the one who has no morals.

it takes morals to see that what the bible teaches is wrong.

ever hear of the law, compassion, and the golden rule?

So if you didn't believe in a god, you would lose all your morals?

Tell you what, mate... you stick with your delusion. I don't want to see what you'd be like without it.

We sane people will continue to follow the SOCIAL CONTRACT of the human race. Look up that term and read about it.

Read the ethical stage theory of Lawrence Kohlberg. You're asking from level four, I'm answering from level six.

I feel anguished at the thought of causing other people pain.

So I don't do it.

It's as simple as that. God has nothing to do with my wanting the best for others around me. I felt that way when I believed in God, and I still feel that way now that I don't.

As others have said, the Bible is ambiguous at best in giving people a moral code. Leviticus gives very specific instructions on the treatment of sex slaves. If you were a man, you were allowed to have them back then. How do you feel about that now? Do you think it is still "moral?"

LOL!

Human morality doesn't come from religion, religion comes from human morality. When it was OK to own slaves, the Bible was written condoning the owning of slaves. Slavery is all through it. But if someone were to write a new Bible today, it would likely say slavery is bad.

Why do you need the fear of a god watching over you to be a good person? What kind of person are you inside that you'd want to hurt other people if it weren't for your fear of god?

Easy and simple....I don't want crap done to me, my family, or my friends so I don't do it to other people. It's called mutual respect & common sense. Why is that sooo hard for people to understand?

But what I find really scary is that if you didn't have whatever religion you are, that you would go around raping, killing, & stealing.

Common sense and getting along with others.

If you were on an island by yourself, there would be nothing you could do that is immoral.

Weird - you rescue cats, so you're not an idiot. Why are you so strange about the obvious?

All social animals have a sense of right and wrong. If they didn't they couldn't form societies. Chimps, vampire bats and meerkats all treat their fellows with trust and fairness.

It's a necessary prerequisite for a social animal to have such an instinct. It *defines* right and wrong. Do you really think you'd start murdering and robbing if god wasn't watching you? If so, you'd have to be a psychopath.

Yes, the fear of retaliation. If I don't do anything to hurt anybody else, they have no reason to hurt me.

It would be a little more tolerant.. There would be less people in prison. People would obey the laws a little more.
