Atheists: How would you refute this?

The Question

New member
My Christian friend and I were having a conversation about why I don't believe. We got on the topic of Jesus' existence. How do we know Jesus existed? I said that Atheists on here said that we don't have any record of Jesus outside of the Bible. He said that we only have one written record of Socrates, but everyone knows he existed. He also mentioned Alexander the Great as well. At that point I admitted to him that I did not know if Jesus existed because of conflicting messages I heard. In a public college, in history class I remember reading about Jesus of Nazareth in my textbook and hear my instructor talk about him as well. However, she never explained why he existed nor did I ask because I did not want people think I was a Christian.

What would you say that?

Say to what exactly? Was there actually a question buried in there?

Alexander the Great has lots of evidence for his existence. He conquered most of the known world at the time for crying out loud!
