Atheists, Deists, Theists, etc.: what is your taste in art?

Dali is my favorite artist.

As for genres of art, I like surrealism, nice landscapes, just a bit off modern stuff, and photography, along with some of the older, more famous stuff (Monet, Van Gogh, etc).
And in general, everything that I think looks nice.

I used to be into surrealists like Salvador Dali, until I saw some of his *really* controversial work (paintings of sadomasochism). Now I am into abstract expressionists like Picasso and Escher.

Plein air impressionism, when it comes to oils.
Minimalism when it comes to mixed media abstracts.
I love the Fluxus school when it comes to sculpture.
Dadaist or other schools of absurdism in poetry and theater.
Traditional ethnic dancing, particularly koto drumming (which seems more about the movement then the music) and polynesian dancing.
Magical realism in literature.
Eclectic tastes, all over the board in music.

I'm a pantheist

i hate art. if i can paint a portrait of a woman just as well as da vinci can paint the mona lisa, it's worthless. what's so great about a portait of a woman?

i find art unappealing because i can do it just as well. see, i don't get how van ghoh can slap on blobby patches of thick oil and make it look all twirly and somehow it's worth 60 bajillion dollars after he dies.

the worst work of "art" ive ever seen was several stacked pallets in 5 different colors......WTF?

My favourite artists are Roberto Matta, Rene Magritte and Max Ernst. I like surrealism, abstract expressionism and some other forms of expressionism. Older art is sometimes to my taste, for instance Botticelli and the Pre-Raphaelites, but i have to struggle to appreciate that a lot of the time.

Oh sorry, forgot to mention: I'm a Christian (evangelical, basically).
