At what stage of life do you start looking back and thinking things were better then?

As a youngster I always dreamt of living in a future of space travel, no doubt fuelled by the old Star Trek movies.
But......
Now I find myself thinking that things were so much better in the 70's and 80's. Life was less complicated and more innocent, not because of work or anything as I am retired now at the age of 44

it is very independent for every person.
im 18 and i think it was way better to be a kid, just because then we could have bees so careless and nothing was upon us. now every decision we make has a way bigger impact on our lives. i suck at taking responsibility.

i assume that for every one it is something different that triggers them to look back and think that life was better then.. factors could be work, family, children, education, some tragic event, some eyeopening event......etc.

Life was so much better in the 70's and 80's. I've just turned 47 and remember being a young 10yo and going with my friend on our bikes for the day, miles away from home and not returning for about 6 hours. No mobile phones, no predators, mum didn't panic. I could walk to school alone for about 2 miles at 10yo. You wouldn't let your kids do this now. I used to hitch-hike with my girlfriends at 16. I started looking back probably after the 80's going into the 90's, so around 30ish.
