At The Drive-In

Just wondering what people think of this band? well i love this band, i cant get enough of them and are probably one of my favorite banRAB.
there releases include...
- 'Acrobatic Tenement'
- 'In/Casino/Out'
- 'Vaya EP'
- 'Relationship of Command'

well this band basically were at the cutting edge of hardcore and bought it to the surface as a popular music form, the four releases that i put above are their main releases and can understand the learning curve that they went through in their brief existance to become modern legenRAB. Their first release 'Acrobatic Tenement' didnt really get them any fame and only just about kept them on their label, however when the 'Vaya EP' came out they emerged to be on top of their game and then bought out 'In/Casino/Out' (the first album i got!) which was recorded almost entirely live in the space of a week which is unheard of for modern banRAB to do. finally they bought out 'Relationship of Command' a completly stunning album which truely put them on top and by far their greatest release... and then they decided to split up! an idealistic aim of so many banRAB to bow out at the top of their game but few ever do so... my only wish is that they would get back together and just play for me personally!!

So these guys pwn, I just got some of their stuff and it is great. I'm too lazy to read all of this but what genre would they be under? (for future reference)

Here's a fun story. I had tickets to see At the Drive-In in Nottingham about five years ago. We had a massive problem getting to the venue, none of us had ever travelled to Nottingham before so we had no idea where to go once we got off the train. The train itself was delayed by an hour, no problem, we'd left ourselves long enough to find the venue and have a drink before they came on anyway.

We got off the train and it was pitch-black, raining hard and there was nobody around who could direct us properly, so we got lost. After forty minutes of walking, we finally arrived at the venue to find the doors locked, and nothing but a piece of paper stapled to the door saying "SHOW CANCELLED".

They split up three days later. Great band. Acted like a pack of bastarRAB.

i love this band, i really do. i also like the mars volta aswell, completley different but still has cedric and omar in it. have u heard the other band that the rest of at the drive in became-Sparta? i heard they are alrite. but yerr i have relationship of command and its a quality album fav tunes on it one armed scissor just the riff in that, arc arsenal and sleepwalk capsules.
i have a tune called helitrope aswell, but im unsure what album that is from.

do you like the mars volta aswell, or just at the drive in, i think they are both amazing. i prefer the delouse in the commatorium tho to the mars voltas latest album.

Yes.
I like the Mars Volta.
Haven't heard of Broken Social Scene.

This isn't really the place for generall chit chat...i mean. Off the subject...

"one armed scissor" is the tv friendly song, i've heard it on multiple shows (like mtv cribs and ****) and also this vh1 show when some girl fell and it played the "pucker up and kiss the asphalt now"

Yeah, I heard one song from them. They didn't sound punk to me.
I believe the song was "One Armed Scissor" or something like that.
I thought they were okay.

Apparently 'One Armed Scissor' is a love song. So said one of the 'fro wearers on the telly once. Dunno if he was just being obstinate though.

tar for that but its not really much help is it when the whole thread is actually based on some muppet who thought that one armed scissor was about bloody self harm!!
