AT&T Phone Upgrade With The Best Camera

my brother's phone is broken and he qualifies for an upgrade. we're on AT&T. he wants a phone with an awesome camera, that is the most important feature to him.

On Sony Ericsson's website, there are two phones listed as coming soon: the Xperia Arc and the Xperia Neo. Both have 8.1 MP cameras similar to his old CyberShot C905. I'm wondering if all the manufacturers are going to roll out a new generation of phones soon or just SE? he doesn't want to buy a new phone and then have a whole bunch of new phones come out a month later and be stuck with something really outdated. SE's site didn't say what carriers the phones will be on or if they will be available unlocked.

should he go with one of the below choices, or wait for the new Sony Ericsson Xperias to roll out (or other new phones?)

right now these are his options:

HTC Inspire 4G: $70
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10: $90
Samsung Captivate: $100
Motorola Atrix 4G: $130

Between the Xperia Arc and the Xperia Neo I would recommend of course that you go for the Arc. The reason for that is because it has Larger 4.2-inch screen while the Xperia neo has a 3.7-inch screen, second is the 512MB ROM versus the 320MB for Xperia neo, and last would be the design.

Here is the deal how Sony Ericsson works.

Their phones usually have two varieties. One model has a 900/2100 3G for Europe and Asia. The second model is a quad band 3G with 800, 850, 1900 and 2100. This model which is identified with an "a" suffix, is intended for Docomo Japan, Australia Telstra, Canadian, and Latin American markets and it is AT&T 3G compatible. It is up for AT&T to decide if they want to bring this version to the US market. On the case of the X10a Xperia, they did, although it has to be said, this model appeared in the world months before AT&T adopted it.

Thus regardless if AT&T would adopt the Arc or not, an AT&T 3G compatible version is still very likely to happen, although you may have to import it yourself through dealers. I'm almost pretty sure the Arc would appear in Canada, which means this version will exist.

AT&T should decide soon one way or another.
