AT&T or Sprint

As an AT&T (landline) employee i have AT&T wireless and of course i get my employee discount. The only thing i HATE about AT&T is their choice of phones. None of them are to my taste. Even gsm phones outside of AT&T are not to my taste.

Now there are the new IC phones from sprint powersource. The old straight nextel phones definitly have my taste but nextel voice and data are aweful here were i live and work. Now that sprint incorporated their voice and high speed data into a nextel phone, it just turned my head.. So i went out and purchased the ic902 and ive had it for 2 weeks now and im impressed..!! It beats iden hands down...! The only downfall to sprint is their LACK of CDMA coverage in the caribbean (except puerto rico). I called sprint to verify this and they also said that most of the caribbean lacks CDMA 1900 coverage as well. This is bad cause we vacation in the caribbean 4 times a yr. We also called the cruise ships and they also said there was NO cdma coverage on board, only gsm.

Now my dilema is this... Being an AT&T employee do u think i should stay with them just cause i work for them and to show my support for the provider and deal with the poor phone choices that gsm has to offer OR should i drop AT&T and go with sprint cause they have the better phone that that i want even tho there is that lack of coverage in the caribbean and ill have to deal with it each time we go out there...??

Now, what really makes me happy is knowing that with AT&T i dont have to worry about minutes.... but deal with crappy phones.
With sprint, im VERY happy with the phone, but ill have to worry about minutes here and there and deal with no cell coverage while on vacation....

Im so confused here and not sure what i wana do....

You should go with the carrier that provides the best service where and when you need it - where you live, work, play and travel. It does you no good to have the best phone out there, but not have the coverage you need, when you need it.

That seems like a no brainer right there. Forget about the phone, and if you don't have to worry about minutes go with AT&T. They have coverage where you vacation, and apparently that is important to you. Deal with the phone later on. And you mean to tell me that there is not a quad band unlocked GSM phone out there that does not appeal to you? That is just nuts.

I never said anything about a quad band phone.. All the gsm phones that come close to what i like are all tri-band 900/1800/1900 which wont work too well on AT&T. T-mobile runs on 1900 but their coverage here is just as bad as nextel.
I think i may stick with the AT&T and be covered everywhere i go and not have to worry about minutes... and hopefully sometime in the future a descent 850 gsm phone will come around.

I already own that phone... ive had it for 2 yrs now. It ok.. but not great. What i really want is the ic902 to work on gsm. but thats not gonna happen.
