AT&T cellphone help!!.....?

i want to buy a samsung propel on amazon but i already have a lg shine and i have only had it for a year. could i buy it or do i have to wait for the 2 yr contract to expire?? help plz! NOTE: i only want to buy the phone not the plan with it. i am a at&t customer.
 
if you buy a phone before yo qualify for an upgrade its going to alot of money. but you can buy a new one when ever because you can switch the sim cards. ive done it like 5 times. lol
