Thanks, CJ for your help! When I go to see my dermatologist again, I will mention all of this to her. I am not sure if she will prescribe any of it for me though. My skin isn't really that oily. It is dry and sensitive for the most part, but I am still getting breakouts. I just don't understand. :( I am going to try to cut back on the products I am using on my skin and see if that helps at all.

I have the exact same proble, well, I did have. I tried "Skin Doctor" and it was miraculous. My mom forced me to try it and I was very sceptical, but I am amazed. If I dont get a breakout, it only lasts a day and it is a lot smaller. No whiteheaRAB. Its also cheap! Try it, I promise, it works

New to this board and just browsing, but my son had severe acne really bad as a teen. The dr gave him antibiotic which I don't think he ever took. But retin A 1 percent. When he uses the retin A it clears right up...when he slacks on using it....it gets real bad again.

hi
the new acne free redness relief has sulfur in facewash and benzoyl peroxide in its cream. Sulfur seems to soothe my skin and also wash off the acne and the exisiting blemishes. the toner is amazing....it has licorice extract....i have adult acne and you can surely try this thing..it works...
Is there any sulfur masks available in general stores like walmart, cvs, walgreens and likes? please do inform me as i think i mite run out of the acne free face wash while the lotion and toner mite stay back for long....thanks

I just want to share with you that when I just had panic/ depression problem and started taking Paxil, my acne cleared up for few months. It wonders me why my skin was more clear even after nights and nights of sleeplessness and terrible terrible emotional stage. I think it has something to do with your metabolism and hormonal level when you experienced this unusual sate of mind. I don't think it has anything to do with the medication I was taking.
During the depression period, a lot of things seemed slow down. I ate less, moved less, had less oil on my face, and even had much less period.

Do u eat enough protein? I noticed that u said you are a vegan. No eggs or meat. Protein intake is very important in corabating acne. I once tried to go the vegan route and my acne was 10X worse. I wasn't getting enough protein. So u may want to research vegetarian sources of protein. Remeraber, acne is from an irabalance on the inside. Creams, Anti-biotics, washes only mask the problem. But good luck with your struggle. You are not alone!!!

I am sorry to say that you seem to ve overmedicating your self. I would first suggest you that you wen off the internal and external stimluation as much as you can. Keep takin what is bare necessary.

Once you reach that stage and if the acne still persist, a few doses of Sulphur 6x could be of help. Please remeraber only afew doses. Sulphur 6X is a homeopathic prepaartion of Suplhur and help helpful in skin probelms like acne.
hope this helps

Please help! I am at my wits end! :(

I am a 33 year old female, and although I did have problem skin as a teenager (nothing too bad), my skin cleared up for the most part when I was into my 20s. Now, since I am in my 30s, my skin is the worst it has ever been.

I am severely depressed about this (I already have a history with depression to begin with). I don

My derm just prescribed me Oracea also for my acne. I looked it up and its a rosacea treatment. So I'm a little worried on whether or not it will work...I've been on accutane twice and it worked perfect, but a yr after tx's, my acne returns. I've only been on the oracea for 1 week, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I too am very depressed about this and can't even bring myself to go out of the house except for work. I am close to being a vegetarian...I do eat some cheese occasionally, so not Vegan, but I also eat chicken and fish occasionally and nuts regularly, so i know I get enough protein. I stayed in all this weekend with aspirin on my spots, and rubbed my face in the morning with fresh lemon. My skin seems to look a little better after 2 days of that, but I can't do it forever. :( I take lots of vitamins and flax seed oil too...it's so frustrating that you can do all the right things and have nothing work!!!

i tried a gazillion different products and wtvr...as my acne got worse, i got more stressed (which means more breakouts) and started using more harsh skin products (which means more skin irritation...dryness...skin gets too dry which makes it produce more oil...which means more breakouts) i actually found that when i wash my face less, i get less breakouts. i really think its all the products ur using that are irritating ur skin. i can't garauntee that ur skin will be CLEAR if u use less products on it......but i can say that it will be better. mine definitely is now. i suggest washing your face once a day, in the evening. don't wash it in the morning (how oily can ur face get after sleeping?) do'nt forget to moisturize, if u don't, ur face will produce more oil....more breakouts, u know the cycle. also, just RELAX, lots of ppl have acne, and freaking out over it isn't gonna make it better.

Hi, I am 30 years old and have had acne for the last 5 years. I just found out that I have pcos (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) which in short is an overload of horomones (like teenage boys get). Anyway my Dr put me on Metformin because my insulin levels are twice what they should be. This has started to clear up my acne. I was just wondering if this possibly could be what is happening to you? Just thought I would suggest it.

Good Luck All,
Cindy

Get on Accutane. It is not anything you are eating. It is not drinking soda. It is not your anxiety. Run, don't walk, and make them put you on Accutane. I did it and it was a dream. All the prior suffering was ridiculous.

I know how you feel. I had acne since I was 13 and I'm 19 now. But I can tell you that the caffeine isn't the cause of acne. I don't drink soda or coffee since I was 14 and my acne still continues.

It's called Zeno. I had no idea they sold it at drugstores. I've only seen it in magazines and online. I'm not sure this would be the perfect solution in this case. I read on Zeno's website that you get 60 zaps out of one "cartridge" or something like that, and it costs 30-40 dollars for a new "cartridge."
I was interested in Zeno too, until i found that out. I think maybe it's only for people with minimal acne... you know.... to reduce that ungodly monthly pimple! (scarcasm) lol
Good idea all the same! :)

I am surprised your dermatologist didn't perscribe any antibiotics for you. Usually they will perscribe a long term antibiotic and a cream and that works very well. In my experience with dermotogists, they are always in a hurry and don't like to take the time to listen. Try finding another one, I have tried many till I found one I actually liked. Don't be afraid to tell them what YOU want to try. Also, I hear Proactive works very well and also Serious Skin Care. You can get Serious Skin Care from Ulta and from HSN or QVC, I forget which one it is. All you really need is a good cleanser and moisturizer, all that other stuff is not really necessary and yes too much is no good, you can irritate it more. If you wear make-up try to get a skin clearing make-up as well, I believe Neutrogena has good ones. I don't think fooRAB make a difference, i think that is a wives tale. As far as anti depressants go, antibiotics don't clash with them so if whatever you're taking is working for you I'd stay on it and talk to your dermatologist about an antibiotic for the acne. Good luck!

Have you ever considered accutane? If your skin is really depressing you and is causing a major stress in your life then you should definatley consider it. It bewilders me that people who have been struggling with skin for so long never go on it. Everyone who uses it sees drastic results and many never have to use anything for their skin again. The one downside is the side effects that some experience and it can be spendy if your insurance doesn't cover it. I am on it right now and am experiencing the initial breakout but I have had no side effects at all so far except for slightly dry lips which can be taken care of with good lip moisturizer. your acne will get worse at first, but what's a few months compared to years of acne? To me, it's worth it.

Thanks everyone for all of the helpful replies. I probably am using too many products on my face, and I am constantly splashing water on my face throughout the day because I fear that it is dirty. I will try to stop overcleansing. I have been feeling a lot more stress recently, so I think that is probably a factor in my breakouts as well.

I am also going to try to cut out all gluten in my diet to see if I see any change in my skin after I do so. Has anyone had any luck with a gluten-free diet?

Thanks again for the help.
