asymtetric face growth

Hi

Recently I noticed something strange about my entire head, everything on the right side is bigger! My ear, jaw, cheekbone, etc, I have no idea what could possible have caused this. The only thing that I can think that might be vaguely related would be the fact i didnt chew on my left side for a couple of years due to tooth pain.

Any ideas of what could cause this?

One question - how big a difference is it? Is this something you really have to look at to notice or is it enough of a difference for other individuals to see it? This can hopefully give us a better idea of what it may be. I've heard of certain conditions that can cause one side of the face to be smaller than the other, but it's usually a very noticeable difference.

On a whole its only slightly larger on one side, by about 4mm, but it has a lot less depth a fullness. Ive had a few people mention my jaw is smaller on one side, and also my ear.

Take a look into hemifacial microsomia. This sounds a lot like what you described. It sounds like the only way to really change it is with reconstructive surgery or adding in facial implants. If yours is very mild, it doesn't sound like it should cause any troubles.

If you seem to have just more fatty tissue in the jaw area or other areas you notice it in, then perhaps it is because of the tooth pain issue. You may have developed more muscle in one side, or had more fatty tissue in another. The hemifacial microsomia seems to be more with the bone structure itself.

Hope this helps!
