Wow,
My one and only claim with asurion went smoothly. The questions surprised me, but that's all. The phone was overnighted to me and I now have an extra battery and sim card.
For some reason, a few days later they sent me a car charger. I didn't mind

Actually they just changed their service requirements. You have to understand they are a true insurance company and are now regulated by the gov as such. They have to watch their polices and procedures just as much and therefore can be as much of a pain in the you know what as a car insurance company. They are getting better, now including a simple claim form you print and fax, and they are on average hitting a 24 hour turn around and free next day air shipping. Your local T-Mobile store manager HAS or should HAVE the direct Asurion liasons contact info which can really clear up special one off cases. AS for other companies I cant speak for them. I know insurance as a whole sucks, but again, not everyone out there can be a competent and understanding individual such as us now can they? lol

They tried to screw me when I tried to file a claim to replace a non-charging SideKick 2 with a SK 3 last year. They told me that, since my SIM card was in a BlackBerry Pearl at the time, the Pearl was the only phone they would cover (I would have to had to have taken the SIM card out of the Pearl and put it back into the SK2 for a certain number of days before they would replace it).

After dealing with them and an unpleasant T-Mo rep in store, I got fed up and went to a different T-Mo store and got the SK3 I wanted anyway.

In my nearly 4 years with T-Mobile and Assurion, that was the only problem I had.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~so I was never offered insurance on my phone, but then I'm not through tmo..do I just look up one of the companies listed above? Did it have to be done when I first got it or can I still do it?

You only have 7 days from the purchase of a new handset... a quick way to squeeze it in is to borrow a phone from a friend for a day (I know its going to suck) and then call and say you purchased it at a indirect dealer in the mall as an upgrade and need to add insurance. they should do it no problem, afterwhich you switch back to your blackberry and youre set. lol Keep in mind the insurance company Asurion is NOT T-Mobile, they just work together. lol

yeah typically they just want to know name number type of device a brief summary of what happened. if device was stolen then they need a police report, imei and date of purchase. oh an current address so they know where to send the replacement device

I believe that Asurion is a great company the only problem with many fellows out there is that they want to have everyhting done the way they want it and when they want it. It's not like that just take a little time to read terms and condition(policy) of a company that you are making business with so you all will understand that noone is trying to play or fool you. To those that have complained about the process or procedures that Asurion uses have one of you read the policy for those that have not take your time and do it go to: www.phoneclaim.com and chose your carrier and you will see and maybe will even change your mind about them and even posibly you will be more easy to work with when you call the insurance to file claims.

I did checked out this website : www.gadgetguardians.com and I would like to add that Asurion is much better if you go to the FAQ's on this website you will notice that it takes up to 14days for you to get a ph, mainly for every claim and they really screw you up becuase depending on the plan yo get that is how many claims you are allow to file, but read that its 9.99 for only one claim in a calendar year, and even they have high deductible that apply, also you has to sent them the damage eqmt first in order for them to send you your pkg out, and also like most companies they do give you new and refurbishe eqmts so it is even worst to my opinion.
ALWAYS READ WHAT YOU ARE BUYING OR ASK QUESTIONS.

to Monica.Simons actually for that to add insurence to your phone you need to call your carrier and ask if it is eligible to add insurence I think with at&t you must have added the insurance within 30days from date of purchase but you can call cc at&t for more information or just to get basic info about the insurence call the #1888-562-8662. Open 7am-9pm M-F and 10am-7-pm Sat

I've had Asurion Insurance and it wasn't that good. Now, I have Gadget Guardians. I've read in previous postings, that the premium is high on GG, but they cover more than one item. I paid $ 5.99 per month for just one device--cellphone on Asurion. Now, i pay $ 9.99 per month on GG to cover two devices (i.e. cellphone and Ipod). And i can switch it to other gadgets; doesn't necessarily need to be a cellphone.
