Asurion Cell Phone Insurance.....

Hello All !!

It has been a minute since I last posted. Must tell you about the experience I just had with Asurion... As usual, my 8100 died, so I contacted Asurion. I have had this insurance for over 2 yrs, but never used them, bec quite frankly my BB's would die before the manufactures warrently expired. ANYWAY, The representative, though polite her english was not concise and clear. Normally, this would not be an issue, until she began asking me so I thought were the "normal security questions".

After the questions were asked, and all my replies were, NO NO NO NO. She promptly informed me that I answered all the security questions incorrectly and I cannot go further with my claim....I told her her english sucked big wind and she needs to repeat what she said.... ok fine...so she proceeds...

She pronounced "City" as "CD"....what the blimey hell ???

I get totally irked when I find out about these security questions..... the answers to these questions were never offered to Asurion by me for later confirmation. Asurion was confirming address where I had past resided at 11 yrs and 20 yrs. ago !!!

I have lived in a lot of places, through my work so to bascially confirm where I have lived at 11 yrs ago and 20 plus odd years ago was totally out of order and a downright invasion of privacy. I can barely remember what I wore to work the day before.....let alone where I lived !!!

Basically, I have cancelled this insurance. So now I am wondering, what else do they know about me ??

I am getting me a latte....they have so pissed me off.....

Hopefully Mcq2u2 they do not ask you such intrusive questions......they took the fun completely out of the process !! ARGH !! FUN SUCKERS they are !

Hmm that's interesting. I've heard the horror stories about how claims go all wrong and what not. But nothing about having too much of your information in their hands.

I personally don't like to deal with them. I have a different 3rd party insurer that I prefer to use.

But in all honesty I've never maid a claim for insurance in the 7 years that I've had a phone. So its kind of wasted money. But no more a waste than car insurance. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

There are other insurance companies out there that you can go to, you just have to do so legwork. Here are just a couple that have been suggested here on the Stacks in other similar posts.
Safeware
Squaretrade

yeap, I know how this goes, those security questions were something else, as for the address they had a place I haven't lived in for years, after me getting irate, i just hung up never called back, got another phone from somewhere else.

I had to drop them last month because they charged me $180 to replace my Tmobile DASH, then another $75 because they claimed they never recieved the broken one?????
