Here's an interestin' anime I found. Story's about a high school boy who's being haunted by a long lost childhood girlfriend.

Opening Theme: "Spiral" by angela

Ending Theme: "Link" by angela

Genres: Romance, Scifi (mech corabat)

Hey, so there is a thread on this show.

Since CR got it, I actually took the time to watch it through and let me tell you, it's been an interesting ride. The first season was....meh. I mean, it was okay and all but it had the same problem as most half-series shows have as in it doesn't resolve anything and left too many plot holes open for anyone to care. Also, there were a few annoying moments and the plot didn't seem to really go anywhere. I liked the science vs. magic concept but it just seemed so dull and honestly, I didn't have any big hopes for season 2.

HOWEVER!

My god, did they grow a pair or what? Despite some obvious animation issues at times, the second season completely blows the first out of the water. Plotlines are explained, the battles get incredibly intense, time/dimension travel happens, and we apparently had a visit from Tomino and Kubo in episode 20 because nearly anybody who was important ever either died or was actually evil the whole time. Also, the new OP just owns face completely. Now I look forward to the rest of it. Though, I think this is one of those shows that you need to watch in a big chunk like I did. I can see how those who watched the series weekly would have been annoyed.

The point is:
First season=expositionatory meh product that was just an appetizer
Second season=Complete plot turnaround for a main course of something that can hold actual interest.

You wanna watch, you know where to go

Yeah, I've been surprised by how much I've been enjoying the second season, since it seemed like a pretty generic show at first. The plot twists actually leave me wondering what will happen next. Plus, the opening and ending are both by angela, who did both the opening and first ending of Shikabane Hime, the latest Gainax show. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of problems with it, especially the animation.

People, start watching this show right now.

And I thought that there was no way that episode 20 (well I guess it's really 7) could have been surpassed.

-First off, how could I forget. Despite the technobabble and world travelling, this show is a mecha anime. And you know what that means....MID-SEASON UPGRADES! Yes, Kurogane and Shirogane thanks to Nia did the Fusion Dance to become an even stronger Kurogane. With that and Tomo's colossus we had some very well-done action scenes. So the first world was saved.

-Sadly, a lot of **** went down. The first world's Misao died to make it happen (though hopefully she's wherever the first Tomoharu is). Also, Takatsuki used up all of her power and seems to also about to vanish (though she's in the preview?).

-Poor, poor An (First world An anyway). Every anime neeRAB someone like you. The side character who never has a shot with the protagonist. I think you're cute though!

-We finally meet the real Naotaka (First world) and he's pretty interesting. Though the fact that he has a freaking battleship shooting lasers like something I'd see in Gundam kinda threw me for a loop.

-Sorry Misao lovers. Looks like Tomo picked Takatsuki unless something changes in the next three episodes.

There are two things Super Robot anime mecha should do. The first is be based on real humans. This series had that covered. The second? COrabINING! This episode covers that. I still don't like CGI mecha in 2D anime, but it was still pretty epic.

Man, I really can't believe they're going ahead with Tomo having picked Takatsuki. It's like they did the exact opposite of what I thought was going to happen.

-The animation was all over the place today. Sometimes they looked okay, other times they looked like their faces went through a major facelift but anyway, with two episodes left, this was clearly a "calm before the storm" type episode. The type where the last details of the plot are explained as the big battle gets underway in the next episode.

-Lol at Takatsuki being all blushing over her and Tomo's "daughter." Persephone actually kind of looks like Tomo in the eyes.

Yeah, I always thought Tomo would end up with Misao. The animation was jarring at times, and there wasn't much to this episode, but it does set up for a hopefully epic last couple of episodes.

Why are all the shows I like ending next week!? (Oh right, Winter season. Too bad I'm only interested in like two shows)

-The animation was crap at the beginning. Then got awesome when the battle happened. Really liked how everybody took Tomo's side. I wonder if Kurogane can do anything besides a huge energy ball. I mean, it's cool and all but sometimes, I'd like to see like a blast or something.

-Holy jeez, the owl gets huge and breathes fire!

-Surprise kiss from Nia. Have to say I didn't see that one coming. Well, actually, I saw it coming as the show went on but she just seemed so regular compared to the other girls that I just thought it wouldn't happen.

-Old man is badass. Everybody's all tired and he's just like "That was tough huh?"

It feels like this season has just begun. Maybe it's because I've been waiting for TFS season 2 the whole time.

Even the second-to-last episode has more random crappy animation. I really hope they have a big part of the budget saved for the last episode. It always gets a lot better during battles, so it should be awesome in the last episode. However, that episode should also have a good post-final battle conclusion that we can watch without cringing at the animation. I can't wait!

The final battle was awesome, but I was a little upset with the fact that everyone lived and became frienRAB again.

I know Tokiya wasn't so much evil as just blinded by love, but that doesn't mean he should be able to almost destroy the world and live to tell about it. At least it looks like he was a cripple at the end.

The amazing yet insane fighting and fusing and blasting and whatnot totally reminded me of Gurren Lagann.

Tomo not being able to choose either Misao or Takatsuki makes sense, since it doesn't seem right for this kind of series to end with the male lead being with one of the female leaRAB. He can't get that lucky.

Nia goes back to being a kid. I guess she fulfilled her romantic interest possibility role.

Overall, awesome finale, even if the very end was a little lame.

There was no opening, but there was a new insert song for the battle and a new ending song, with clips of what happens after the end of the episode while it plays. Both were by angela, of course.

And now it's over forever. *record stops* (whatever the significance of that was...)

DID I JUST SEE ME SOME GURREN LAGAAN ANIMATIONS?!!? *coughs* Er....sorry.

You know the best episodes of any anime are the ones that they cut the opening/closing for because they absolutely need the extra 1:30. (It's why I knew the 11eyes ending sucked hard. They didn't cut of the OP)

Well that was.....conclusive....

-No seriously, I mean...wow, it's actually done. All the baddies were beaten, every character got their epilogue and there's really nothing left. I mean....well after all these anime having "non-endings" and "maybe we'll make another season if we feel like it" conclusions, it's kind of refreshing (and somewhat empty) to have an anime that just...wraps up everything with a simple conclusion.

-The final battle against the president was probably where the animation budget for half the season went to. Wow, that was intense. And I think I probably saw some Gurren Lagaan-inspired type sequences during the heavy stuff. Really enjoyed Kurogane's Nitoryuu and Persephone actually being awesome. (When it got it's wing cut off, I was like "NOOOOOOO!" )

-Lol'ed at Nia returning to child form. Hey, "everything" from the first world has gotta go.

-Really wish Tomo had just picked one in the end but it was rather cute and probably the only anime that does a "choose one" ending that didn't piss me the hell off. (Word of advice Tomo, go for the Harem End like Alto did in Macross Frontier)

1st season was absolute fail however necessary in order to get the much better paced and conclusive 2nd season. Well, one more for the completed list.

I'm glad we agree on the Gurren Lagann similarities in the animation of the final battle, and that it was a good ending.

No, I'm pretty sure that had more to do with the fact that the ending was just an alternate possibility of the previous episode, with no acknowledgment as to why it was that way...

Well, yeah, I mean, I guess they figured that having lost his Asura Machina and demon, he didn't really pose a threat anymore. Also, you know, being crippled and all that.

Go watch Macross Frontier, then agree with me that he should just take the Harem way out. :P
This series made me not hate angela anymore. Now I can watch Sokyuu no Fafner's OP without my ears bleeding.

Well that too.

It took me like five minutes to realize what happened. Like "WTF?!" I would have been relatively fine had they kept the "Kill 'em all."

Yeah, I shouldn't be surprised that they let him live, but seeing the smug "IMMAKILLURWORLD" look on his face just made me think "God I can't wait until he gets killed."

I do have to watch some Macross series. The end of this episode was one of those cases where I was wishing our protagonist would grow a pair and say "Guess what? You're both mine!"

I never saw Fafner. I first knew about angela from Shikabane Hime, so I've always liked her.

Seriously, what the hell?

They left us on an intense cliffhanger, and instead of concluding it, they pretend the episode never happened and tried a more generic approach.
