Astronomy(telescopes)?

hey i have been thinking about getting into astronomy......and i know a good amount about telescopes and such (Astronomy Merritt Badge, friends etc.) so im not exactly a beginner. I am looking for a telescope around $800-$1000 and i dont know what type to choose. I live in los angeles but im going to be using it probably a little bit in the city but also outside of the city in the desert anyways... im looking for a pretty straitforward to use telescope that has pretty high aperture and some form of starfinder that can give me is good quality and is easy to maintain

Buy from a store which specializes in telescopes and astronomy, either locally or online; don't buy from department stores, discount stores or eBay as mostly what they sell is junk. Find your local astronomy club and try out different telescopes at one of their star parties:
