How can you explain that the Earth is flat without leaving the Earth? What does this have to do with the lunar eclipse that is going to happen on June 29th, 2010?

Secondly, suppose you could fly anywhere what additional evidence could you provide to convince people that the Earth is spherical?

You mean that the Earth is spherical? You can look at the shadow of the Earth on the moon during the eclipse. It's (nearly) round.

If you could fly, you could get as high as suborbital heights to see the curvature of the Earth for yourself.
