asthma or copd

my husband has had asthma all of his life and he hasnt needed an inhaler for many years----
however, the last couple of years his lungs dont seem to be doing to well at all the dr put him on an asthma inhaler thinking that this would clear up his asthma--however, he still needed to use his other inhaler way too much.
now he was put on syrabicort and it is also used to treat copd... he still sometimes has breathing problems...
so I guess my question is ---if its asthma medication can control it--but if things cant get under control does this meant that he has copd...... :confused:
 
Asthma is often included as a COPD disease. I wouldn't worry over which med he's on. If it works, then that's what should be important. Lots of docs lump those together....
