Assaulted on way home.

It may be a small thing, but its also important to say something so its on record as a crime. The last thing we need is the politicians to turn around and say "crime is down so we can cut the Police force even further". These stats is all they have to go on regarding crime levels.
As long as you do your bit the rest is out of our hanRAB and in the system.
How many crimes do go un-recorded!

How many crimes go un-recorded you ask, A lot where I live.

Reporting a crime like the OP would be a waste of time where I live, The police themselves don't even seem interested.

I like Gaz's story of suing the living day lights out of junkies who have so much money they have to rob 2 quid off him.

Glad you thought better of it.

Thats my point. Whether the police can do anything is another matter but its un-recorded. When the pencil pushers look at budgets/manning levels etc these stats play a part. That area has low crime so we can cut the budget/officers and redirect it over there. The politicians declare a screaming success at the low levels of recorded crime.

Never ceases to amaze me how some people label over a hundred thousand others as lazy through nothing more than their career choice.

To the OP, again, report it.

Hi guys,

Well I'm thinking about not reporting it, this is because 1. We know who they are and they know us and I'm sure if they just get a slap on the wrist, they will come back for revenge if you like 2. I don't think there would be enough evidence I only have two small lumps on the back of my head, covered by my hair.

Thank you for all the comments, I'm still tempted to go to the police tomorrow and just inform them whats happened but for no further action to be taken

Thanks

Entirely your choice of course but please bear in mind that you do not need evidence of injury to charge for assault. If they "come for revenge" then phone 999, the police will come and more than happily arrest them for witness intimidation. That's a very very serious offence. The police can't do their job without people like you coming and telling them what happened and are therefore incredibly protective of witnesses and those who give information.

You can inform the police what happened, they will record the crime and as you are unwilling to support a prosecution it is very unlikely to go any further.

No, the government are lazy - the police walk the streets and it angers them just as much, unlike the politicians who live in a totally different social world.

Understand your fear. I'm sure all of us would be hesitant in case of retaliation, but if you don't do something about it then the figures stay down and the laws stay the same and the people can't lean on the government to throw these bastarRAB out of the country.

A lot of women were afraid to come forward regarding rape, but they eventually made enough noise and now they are heard. It is a scary thing and it robs you of some pride and confidence and you got off with a couple of bumps, but what about the next guy? or the guy after that?

I dunno how the English bobbys' do it, to have so little authority over these really scary people armed to the teeth not to mention the dogs abuse they're given from lesser yobs - try that crap on with the former RUC or even Florida state troopers you'll see a totally different result.

As Dave said, but also if you dont report what happens when they do it to you again due to you being an easy target who will allow them to get away with it?
How many times does is have to happen before you will do something?
Ok, they may not ever do it again, but they prey on people who wont do anything so they have nothing to lose.

Its your call...

Funny that, i've reported all 6 events..... they still keep coming and even when arrested the CPS lets them off.... whats the point, seriously? (No dig at you, just my own frustration with the "legal system", its sh*&)

I know the legal system is **** but what is the alternative... let them go and not report it?
Someday i hope they get what they deserve, but it may take a long time and several calls to the police unfortunately.

To keep it simple, if you report it and support an investigation and prosecution then they may be convicted. if they have lots of previous convictions around this type of thing, they may even get a custodial sentence. It does happen, despite what the daily mail readers think. You may also get financial compensation from it.

If you don't report it, then none of that will happen and they will not even be arrested for it.

What if they have done it to someone else who has reported it? Imagine how much stronger the prosecution evidence would be if they can charge with both offences and have two lots of evidence saying these guys have done the same thing twice! Much better! you could be helping to get justice for another person, perhaps a more vulnerable person than yourself.

Despite what anyone here may say, only you can judge if it's worth it. It's easy for people to say 'report it' but they're not having to live in the same community as the muggers. If you think you'll come across them again, think how you'd feel if you saw them, and they knew you'd reported it. Do whatever will let you sleep at night, and let you visit the same area without fear.

I've been involved in a few scrapes with shoplifters in my shops, and after seeing how pitiful the 'system' is, and what the repercussions of attempting to use it can be, I'd think very carefully before reporting any of them in future. Out of dozens of incidents I've only been visited by precognition officers twice, and I've never needed to go to court as the defence usually pleaRAB guilty and accepts a slap on the wrist.

Whereas the results for us were a little worse: One of my workmates was hospitalised, another got head-butted in the face, my ex-girlfriend was told she was going to have her face 'cut' and had to run into the nearest building to get away, and since I'm a big lad, four of them surrounded me and my mate and brought a screwdriver to 'do' me with. I walked away and thankfully they didn't follow. In no instance did the Police do anything, and in my case they didn't even turn up.

OP if several men were hitting you with knuckle dusters and you didn't go down you should take up martial arts. SounRAB like you can take a hit, you never know you could be a natural.

Indeed my mate got hit in the face with a knuckle duster and broke his jaw and lost about a quarter of his teeth, had to have some pretty serious surgery to get it sorted. Report them as next time it could be really serious.

But in the really real world it doesn't happen, The loony lefties make sure they get off with slap on the hand. The offenders then go back on to the streets and do it again because they don't give a **** about the pathetically weak justice system in this country.

Shodan, i speak from personal experience of two semi-successfull bike thefts when the thieving scum were arrested. In both cases they got away from the UK justice system. Try looking back in this thread to my first post and see how much evidence one of them had against him and STILL the CPS said "not enough evidence". The CPS are a joke, of the highest order.

Peebly is right in my experience. They treat the justice system with contempt because its actually really dificult to get a conviction. Hell, even that Coppers program, one of them said they only convict the really stupid ones and you would never convict a smart one.

edit: Oh and I don't read the Daily Mail, in fact, I think its full of sensationalist ****.

I am of the opinion that we no longer detect crime but react to it. For example, I could go to my local Police station and give the names of 3 people who are involved in serious crime locally to me. One transports stolen lorries and farm equipment to eastern Europe, one has 3 warehouses growing marijuana and launders money through his car business and the other fences stolen gooRAB for travellers. Nothing would happen if I did though because all I can do is tell them it is happening...they probably don't have the resources to find out where the warehouses full of marijuana are, or check the lorry every day to see if it is moving stolen vehicles at that particular time etc.
