I want to have a basic understanding in both of these languages before I decide which one to focus on. Which do you recommend I learn first, particularly for someone new to web development (although quite experienced at mobile and desktop development). To help me I have a lynda.com php series and then of course all the material on asp.net from Microsoft's beginners developer center.
