Ask Rhod Gilbert

I like Rhod Gilbert, but after watching the first episode of this I deleted it from the Sky+ schedule. Shame - I was quite looking looking forward to it.
 
I'm not sure whether this would have anything to do with it but Monday's episode was the first to be filmed in Glasgow. The previous couple were filmed in London with a different production team. The next 3 are also being filmed in Glasgow (with next week's one already filmed - Connie Fisher is unfunny yet Russell Kane is brilliant) and the last few are being made in Belfast.

Don't ask me why, not a clue!
 
You think so? I think it is getting all very much samey, which wouldn't be a bad thing if the things that were becoming a routine were actually funny.

There is the Rhod shouty rant, which isn't great, when he is just bellowing the same sentence over and over.

Then there is Lloyd, who is almost awkward to watch, from when he vacantly stares into the camera as the creepy smile begins to spread over his face, to when he actually tells a joke, which are usually just rubbish. I have watched Lloyd doing stand-up and I thought he was quite good but this show has put me right off him.

Then there is the awkward thing at the end when they attempt to do something a kin to a slapstick sketch, but is rarely funny and falls flat.

The guests were again forgettable, in fact I am fighting hard to remember the other guest who wasn't Russell Kane or the Chef guy. Oh right it was that Welsh lady.

I have watched Russell Kane do stand-up and again he can be quite humourous but tonight he just laughed inanely at what ever the other comedians said, stared wildly into the camera with a rather insane smile on his face.

Overall, I am not really enjoying this show, and find the jokes rather hit and miss, I will continue watching - until something better fills the time slot. But I don't think I will be actively searching the channels so I don't miss the second series.
