Ask Rhod Gilbert

A bit like 'Genius', which is on BBC 2 just before, this, IMHO, has been very disappointing to-date.

I like Rhod Gilbert when he does stand-up or when he appears on other people's shows, but on the evidence of this he really hasn't got what it takes to successfully front his own comedy panel game.

Its too scripted.

He shouts too much (presumably for comic effect) when reading from the autocue and the scripted jokes are poor anyway.

Female panel-members hardly seem to get a word-in. Whether that's down to editting or just a side-effect of their own embarrassment when the realisation dawns on them that its a turkey, I don't know.

Lloyd is a waste of space; a second-rate, Welsh, wannabee Karl-Pilkington. A very poor and a very obvious copy.

The guy from Inbetweeners is the only one who seems to possess anything approaching wit (and would make a better front man than Rhod).

Why bother having a guest on each week to pretend to search the www? Its so obviously a charade (and not even a 'post-modern', ironic, funny one).

Finally, the 'slapstick' section at the end of each show (last week the bread suit, last night the moustache) is just cringeworthy. Why bother?

Maybe this looked like a good show on paper.

It should have stayed on paper.

These sorts of show rely solely on their guests and this week's weren't up to much. Jo Brand virtually didn't say anything and Rhod's flatmate said a lot but wasn't funny.

The bread thing went on too long and was particularly unfunny.

Absolutely diabolical. Unfunny, awful, embarrassing drivel. Greg Davies was the only person holding the show together and being vaguely funny. Jo Brand said almost nothing (although she might have had a bad edit), and Kate Silverton was clearly just reading out pre-scripted dialogue whilst supposedly doing research.

Dire crap that should be stuck on Dave and told to stay there.

Rhod Gilbert is hillarious when he's doing stand up but on this it's jut too scripted and it's stifling his natural funniness. The guests are all shit. That woman on last night was awful and I pity people who pay to see her on her "upcoming UK tour".

Lorraine Kelly is horrible, she should have been banished from TV ten years ago. She comes across as having a huge sense of self importance and thinks she is actually funny. She's not.

I gave it a try. I haven't liked it. I won't watch it again.

The best laff actually came from the guest scientist on the phone! When asked why we dont have eyes in the back of our heaRAB, he said 'why dont you try turning round'??? LOL.:D

dont think the guests this week were as bad as you think, would rather have comedians than pretty girls like that amanda last week

lorraine was likable, think this show is more 'safe' than most panel shows because its onn BBC1 and its been made after what happened with brand and ross

Jo Brand..... To paraphrase Keyser Soze, "The greatest trick Jo Brand ever pulled was convincing the world she was funny".

Caught ten minutes of this - Absolutely ****ing dire.

After reading the comments here, I decided to give this programme another chance via I-player & found it miles better. I guess it very much depenRAB on the quality of the guests.

Did people really think it was better than last week? I didn't mind the first episode, but I couldn't get past the first 6 or 7 minutes this week. Piss poor!

Been to a few pilots, you might be surprised at what does and what doesn't get made. I'd rather have this than a reality TV show, but it's still pretty low-rent TV... and the set is an abomination, like a creation of a child with a glow-stick.
Re audience participation, you can lump in Frank Skinner's Opinionated as well, we were a bit surprised that got taken up too.
For an example of something cheap and simple that works, look no further than It's Only A Theory.
