Her? :confused: why her? I mean I have nothing against Elisha Cuthbert but I am not sure if she will be able to give justice to the character in My Sassy Girl. She wouldnt be the first name I would think to play the girl lead. Not that I can think of anyone right now. :shrug:

Full House is one of my favorites as well along with Goong, My Name is Kim Sam Soon and Delighful Girl Chunhyang. :D

bumping the thead up!

sorry i haven't posted much, but its also because i haven't watched any movies recently, well asian movies anyway. i've been swamped with my mom here visiting (she's leaving tomorrow) and work and all that stuff. but yes, i still have a ton of asian dvds to watch! :lol:

shrrshrr - actually, i googled Neighbour #13 and that was what came out. :lol: i think netflix has a pic somewhere.... and i read about it at Giant Robot. :)

Full House remains to be my favorite Korean Soap. I just love the chemistry between Song Hye Kyo and Rain.

I really want to watch Howl's Moving Castle. The other day I watched Princess Mononokewhich is also from Hayao Miyazaki. But I too watched the English dub. It's fun. Billy Crudup's voice is dreamy. Claire Danes' was kind of over the top in some areas but it's still OK.

Have you guys seen the Korean movie My Sassy Girl? The American remake has already cast the girl which is to be played by Elisha Cuthbert. Just random news to share :D

pucca - I live across the Bay from there but I can certainly get to Filipino stores. Let me know! Might call a few, myself.

angel - I'm not that old I'd forget where I spent the first 18 years of my life! :lol: Hee! I grew up on the Big Island, and my mother still lives there. She's coming to visit in June, so maybe I'll ask for some DVDs.

Sorry I missed this! :wave:

I actually own all three on VHS - and now one on DVD. They're excellent! Remind me of my childhood (early 70s) when we used to go watch the Saturday matinees in Chinese - didn't understand a word but didn't need to because the stories were so good.

I just recently saw Howl's Moving Castle as well ... and I reallie liked it too. :D I saw the English version of it though, so I'm not sure if that still counts ... :blush:

shrr- Yup! I got this dvd set of the entire series of Ranma 1/2 (Jap anime hehe) for just $200. In Suncoast, Tower Records, and pretty much the other stores, it's almost $100 (I think it's approx. $99.95) per season. So pretty much I saved about $500 :lol: But that's because I look for the imported stuff at this one store and the assistant manager kinda knows me...

It's cool you grew up in Hawaii. Do you remember where? And do you still stop by? Cause if you still do, I can tell you where to get some imported stuff

Last saturday, I watched Infernal Affairs again. But it was dubbed in english. At first, I hesitated. I couldn't decide if it was worth watching, but then I decided to watch it anyway and it was ok.
I hate dubbed movies.

Well, I admit - even being relatively familiar with Korean cutlure and language, I still found the ending of 3 Iron to be confusing...and not in the "I think I'll ponder that for a while" way. I thought I understood where it was all going and then the film just left any frame of reference I had.

Kinda cool, actually! :D

Old Boy was definitely a strong film and fantastic. I'll still probably see Lady Vendetta to complete the films, but I have my biases. I'm always fascinated by tales of vengeance - have been since I was little.

Oh, cool - you get the Midnight Eye, too? So do I. Helps me keep track of what's currently out there.

so i'm upping this thread in hopes of finding out who has seen recent Asian flicks. :)

i've recently watched The King and The Clown . it was totally weird for me, i was so convinced that Lee Jun Ki was a girl.

more info Wiki info on The King and the Clown

i'm looking forward to see another kmovie, the host . its currently in the AFI festival at the arclight theater.

My friend, Ron, sent this to me - haven't seen it yet but really want to (SPOILERS possible):

I checked on it too and yup Netflix didnt have it. :( I will make a mental note to check out the Filipino videostores near me or have my mom get it for me from the Philippines. Since you live near the Bay Area, I dont know how far you are to Daly City or Union City, but a Filipino store there might have it available. :D

It's nice to see this thread back.

I've been watching some asian movies lately.
The best was Nobody Knows. I cried my eyes out. It was moving and absolutely beautiful. An amazing movie in every way. I love the story and the actors.

I've also seen some very recent asian movies.
-> Eli, Eli, rema, Sabachthani?
-> Mang Zhong

mukooh- From all the Korean movies I watched (or at least the horror ones), imo, they do tend to get confusing at first. Sometimes even frustrating because you don't know what the heck is going on. I don't know. A Tale of Two Sisters boggled my mind the first time I watched it.

The most confusing (and somewhat irritating) K-Horror would have to be Acacia.

That's just my intake on the few Korean movies I own. I haven't watched anything new recently :look:

mukooh - hmm...I'm just not sure about Bjork any more. Used to like her but she might turn me off of the film. Let us know what you think.

angel - you're in Hawaii? I grew up there (divorced parents - half of each year in Hawaii and half of each year in the Bay Area). Cool. :)

pucca - I just looked through NetFlix and it wasn't there, so I checked IMDb and it's not avaialable on DVD according to them (which could mean it's available on VCD in Asian neighborhood stores, but not via the larger carriers). :(
